An American Girl

Another American Girl Story is coming to Amazon at the end of this month and it will feature the story of Ivy Ling and Julie Albright, who is being played by Hannah Nordberg.

An American Girl Story – Ivy & Julie 1976: A Happy Balance features Ivy Ling, who is played by Nina Lu (and we know from her work on Bunk’d) as a girl who has some struggles with her culture and her current American life.

On Friday, March 24, Amazon Original Special An American Girl Story – Ivy & Julie 1976: A Happy Balance, is set to launch on Prime Video.

Set in 1976 San Francisco, Ivy Ling (Nina Lu, BUNK’D) is a 10-year-old Chinese-American girl who struggles with finding a balance between her two cultural identities: Chinese and American. With her family’s Chinese traditions and obligations, she wishes to be like her all-American best friend, Julie Albright (Hannah Nordberg, General Hospital). When her gymnastics tournament and family’s big Chinese New Year dinner land on the same day, Ivy relies on Julie to guide her with a difficult choice. The special also stars Gwendoline Yeo (American Crime) and Lance Lim (School of Rock).

We love that this is something that you might have to go through as a kid, the choice between what your family wants and what you want, especially as a child in the 70s. The struggle that Ivy feels in the show is real and her decision is going to be a tough one. Thank goodness she has her best friend July Albright to help her out with that decision.

You can check out the trailer for the show below and let us know what you think about these American Girl Stories. We love Nina on Bunk’d and think she is going to make a great Ivy Ling and it will be an interesting ride to see how she comes to grip with the gymnastics tournament and her big Chinese New Year dinner with her family. We also have some pictures below of the show as well and make sure to tune in on March 24th.
