“Welcome to Monster High” is set to have its theatrical debut in select theaters nationwide on August 27 thanks to a partnership with the Lady Gaga Born This Way Foundation.

Much like the foundation, Monster High highlights the uniqueness of ghouls from all walks of earth while encouraging acceptance. Welcome to Monster High seeks to empower youth and inspire bravery to further the reach of Gaga’s #KindMonsters Movement.  Fathom Events and Mattel are bringing Welcome to Monster High to the big screen with Draculaura™ and her best ghoulfriends as they travel the world rescuing monsters in hiding and ultimately bring them to a place where they’re accepted. Monster High’s scary-cool students continue the #KindMonsters movement as they celebrate individuality and come together to pledge kindness.

In “Welcome to Monster High,” the monsters live in hiding, even from each other, out of fear of being found out by humans. However, Draculaura™, the daughter of Dracula, along with her best ghoulfriend, Frankie Stein™, the daughter of Dr. Frankenstein’s Monster, dreamt of a school where everyone was welcome and accepted for who they are. Determined to make their dream come true, the ghouls travel the world on an epic adventure to recruit new students. The origin story of Monster High™” reveals how all monsters in hiding came together to form a place where they belong and their uniqueness can be celebrated.

“Mattel has created a fun story with powerful messages of tolerance and acceptance, which is so critical in today’s society,” Fathom Events Vice President of Programming Kymberli Frueh said. “It will be a great experience for kids to see this event on the big screen and participate in the monster dance class with their friends!”
Andrea Carpenter, Senior Director of Global Content Distribution, Programming & Marketing, Mattel, said,

“We are thrilled to partner with Fathom Events to bring the origin story of Monster High to the big screen for fans all over the country. We know families will enjoy this Monster High movie celebrating inclusivity and acceptance.”

Born This Way Foundation has also partnered with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the National Council for Behavioral Health, and the National Association of School Psychologists to collect data from more than 2,500 young people. This research, presented before the American Psychological Association, improved our understanding of young people’s views of mental-health services and delivery methods.
