Nothing is sacred when it comes to the movie industry. A live-action Pokemon movie is on its way. According to reports from Variety, Legendary Entertainment has officially acquired rights to create a live action film based on the popular card and video game. Here’s the kicker, the movie is going follow a detective Pikachu. Yeah.
Detective Pikachu is not a creation for the movie only. In case you missed it, he is the star of the Japan-exclusive, digital-only game from earlier this year, Great Detective Pikachu. And currently, Nintendo currently does not even have plans to release Great Detective Pikachu outside of Japan.
The plan for a movie is not super surprising considering the INSANE success of the recent release of “Pokemon Go,” which quickly became the most-played mobile game in U.S. history.
