BSCKids got a chance to speak with Ashley Boettcher from Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street about the show and what she has going on in her life. Take a look below at our Ashley Boettcher exclusive interview and then make sure to tune in to Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street on Amazon.

BSCKids:Ashley Boettcher:

My kids love Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street what sets it apart from other shows?

What sets Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street apart from other kid shows is the fact that it’s very real. Sure, we go on some crazy adventures, but there’s no laugh track, and the characters are realistic.

Tell us a little bit about your character.

On the surface, Mel seems like the stereotypical “smart girl”, but is so much more. Yes, she’s smart, but she’s kind, caring, loyal, witty, and has a heart. I was drawn to her because she’s a lot like me. We’re artistic, smart and loyal people who love our friends and families to the end of the universe

Any behind the scene pranks that go on? Who is the funniest person on the show behind the scenes?

There were a ton of pranks that went on behind the scenes. From clipping clothespins on each other, to tape tails! It’s tough to say who was the funniest person. A lot of the crew would constantly play pranks on the cast, which was super cool!

What other hobbies do you have besides acting?

I love writing, horseback riding, playing videogames, dancing and zip lining.

Besides Gortimer what has been your favorite project and why?

I love all the projects I’ve been a part of, so picking just one is super hard! I’d probably have to say Yellow Day. I got to meet a lot of great people and work on a project where everyone involved was passionate about it. It was a very rare and amazing experience.

What would be your favorite episode of Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street that you have filmed?

This is a tough one. We’ve shot so many great episodes. I’d have to say, Future Mel, because it really pushed me as an actress and dealt with some pretty serious and real-life situations. My other favorite episode hasn’t come out yet, but will be available July 15th, only on Amazon Instant Video!

If you could have a magical real life adventure, what would it consist of?

I’d love to have a magical adventure where I got to leave this reality and enter the land of books. So, I could travel into the land of Harry Potter and go to Hogwarts, or to Middle Earth, or visit Sherlock and Watson at 221B Baker Street and help them solve crimes! The possibilities are endless, and I would finally get to meet some of my favorite fictional characters! Although, they aren’t fiction to me, haha!

Who have you learned the most from in your acting career?

So many people have taught me in my career, it’s impossible to say one person influenced me more than the others.

If you could meet any famous actor/actress who would it be and why?

Benedict Cumberbatch, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Emma Watson and Tom Felton.

As to why, I think it’s self-explanatory.

I see on your webpage you have creating short films listed as a hobby, can you tell us a little more about that?

Of course! I attended New York Film Academy (here in California), where I was able to make my first short film! I aspire to be a director, and making short films is a great way to practice and get experience!

If acting hadn’t worked out, what do you think your other career choice path would be and why?

I would love to be a food critic, if I wasn’t allergic to a bunch of food, haha! Outside of that, maybe a professional dancer or a wand maker at Olivanders.

Why should everyone be tuning in to watch Season 2 of Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street?

This next season is all about growing up, adventure and fun! Last season dealt with some pretty serious things, so we’ll be covering the aftermath. But don’t worry, there’s plenty of laughs and crazy situations the gang gets into.

Have three kids, two boys (18 and 16) and a girl (12). I had a grandfather that watched cartoons and read the Sunday funnies until he passed. I feel the same way and continue to watch the Disney channel in my 40s. Check out our BSCKids youtube channel Current favorite show is Amphibia.
