The AMAZING broadway play based on the novel is now heading to the big screen. Wicked will be adapted for film by Universal Pictures and arrive in theaters on December 20, 2019.
The Broadway show is originally based on the novel by Gregory Maguire which is described as an alternate retelling of L. Frank Baum’s classic The Wizard of Oz. In the book and show, we follow two opposing witches–Elphaba and Glinda the Good– from their first meeting in college to Elphaba’s ultimate downfall and transformation into the Wicked Witch of the West.
Wicked the movie will be adapted by irector Stephen Daldry and producer Marc Platt. Wicked is produced on Broadway by Platt, Universal Stage Productions, the Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.
