Adventures in Baby Sitting was one of our favorite movies and now we have the Disney Channel remake coming FRIDAY, JUNE 24 (8:00 p.m. EDT), on Disney Channel with users of the Disney App and VOD having the ability to watch it a bit earlier. BSCKids got the opportunity to speak with Jet Jurgensmeyer who plays Bobby Anderson in the movie.

Tell us a little about your character in Adventures in Baby Sitting and how you got the role?
Well I think Bobby Anderson is really cool. He loves to cook. He is always coming up with recipes to try. He is a wannabe Chef. I went in and auditioned, then I got a callback. After that, I was asked to come back for the Disney Execs. and the director John. Then I went home and waited. My manager and agent called and told me that I got the role. I was so excited.
Do you share any similarities with your characters?
He loves to cook and I like to cook. I have a cousin who is a Chef and I love it when I get to hang out with him in the kitchen and we get to cook. I always learn something new. We will talk about football and food. It is really cool.
Did you watch the original Adventures in Baby Sitting and how do you think it compares to the new one?
Before we went up to film, my parents let me watch the original “Adventures in Babysitting” movie. I really enjoyed it. I think people today will enjoy ours just as much. It is based off of that movie, but not really a remake. It is different. I am so proud to be part of a project that is compared to the original that has become a cool classic from the 1980’s.
How was it working with Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson?
Sabrina and Sofia were just great! I look up to both of them so much. They were always so prepared and professional. They treated all of us with so much respect. They didn’t treat us like we were just little kids. They treated all of us the same. We all would hang out together all of the time. We really love each other. I hope some day that I can be a good influence to some kids that I work with like they were to us.
Can you tell us some of your hobbies?
I am really lucky because I love to act, that is really fun to me. I also like to play guitar, sing and dance. I love to play basketball, soccer and hang out with my friends and family. We have a family farm in Missouri and we ride horses and four wheelers there. I just like to do normal stuff that other kids my age like to do.
How do you find time to spend on your hobbies and friends while going to school and acting?
Well, I am home schooled. I always have been. My parents keep things pretty normal, but structured for me. On days when I am not working, I get up and start my school day just like any other kid. I start early and try to get school done. I work out or have a dance class, then I practice guitar and singing. It’s all about keeping on top of things. I stay involved in soccer and basketball by doing some camps. I can’t really be on a team because that wouldn’t be fair to the team and maybe not show up for half of the season if I have to go away to film somewhere. This way I get to still play and train with a lot of the same kids and we do scrimmage games. I really enjoy that.
Any advice for other children getting into acting?
Make sure you are doing it because you enjoy it.
If you could guest star on a Disney Show which one would it be and why?
I would say Girl Meets World would be one. That would be because Sabrina is on that show and I also think a lot of times they can have some great subjects. Another I would say would be Bunk’d and that would be because my buddy Kevin Quinn, who is also in Adventures in Babysitting is also in that series.
What would you say your favorite Disney Movie is besides your own?
I love the Teen Beach movies, High School Musicals, Frozen, Lion King, Nemo, and Descendants with our Sofia. I really am a big fan of a lot of Disney movies.
What about favorite actors and actresses from Disney Channel past or present? Are there any celebrities you are dying to meet?
You know I really look up to Justin Timberlake who started out at Disney. He really has a great career and life. He seems so level headed and normal. I like how he works in music and films. I also have always said that I want to work with Tom Hanks. I think that would be really cool. I think I could learn a lot from him as an actor.
Who is the person that pulls the most pranks while on set? Also, do you have any funny behind the scenes stories you can share with us?
Well the day that Sabrina’s album Eyes Wide Open came out, all of us kids worked with our producer Michelle and we planned a bunch of stuff. We had someone fill her trailer with a a ton of balloons. She could hardly get in the door. It was really funny. I guess that wasn’t really a prank. Max Gecowets who plays Trey in the movie was always being funny and goofing off. He also is amazing with magic. We would make him do magic tricks all of the time. All of us would always be singing in between takes and to and from set. We all hung out every day after work and even on the days when we weren’t working. We were always together. We would sing and dance and put together skits and shows. We would do improv for our parents and our producer Michelle. It was so much fun. We were one big family.
Where can we find you on social media? Any other projects you are working on?
I recently completed a film for Nickelodeon called Legends of the Hidden Temple. It was a lot of fun and will be a great film. It will come out this fall on Nickelodeon.
