Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” Animated Series Is Coming To Disney XD!

Disney Channel recently announced the official premiere date for its new Marvel animated series, Guardians of the Galaxy.

The word of the new TV series was originally announced last fall during New York Comic Con 2014 at Marvel’s animation panel in which they revealed the TV series would premiere in 2015. With us being well into 2015, it is thrilling to hear more details about the new animated series.

The TV series stars Peter Quill as Star-Lord as he joins with disparate misfits such as Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora and Drax the Destroyer on an adventure to find, protect and ultimately destroy the Cosmic Seed in order to keep it out of the hands of those who would abuse its power. The team follows a treasure map to the weapon after it was opened by an artifact keyed only to the DNA of Peter Quill.

This is quite exciting for fans considering the Marvel film came out in theaters not too long ago. The film, starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and many more, premiered in August 2014 and proved to be a big hit by bringing $94 million to the box office opening weekend. The film continued to top the box office for four weeks since its release.

Marvel Studios released numerous top-hit Marvel movies such as The Avengers, Iron Man and many more. To keep adding to its amazing franchise, Marvel will be releasing its new film, Ant Man, this month on Friday, July 17, 2015.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a film filled with laughs, comedy and action. I have no doubt the animated series will bring the same as it follows the same story. Since the series will be animated, it will put a new and interesting light on the story and it is one that I am most certainly looking forward to seeing.

A sneak peek of the first episode will air on Disney XD on Saturday, September 5 at 9 PM. In anticipation of the premiere of the series, Disney will be telecasting two 10-minute character shorts of the five main characters each Saturday in the month of August. The schedule is as follows:

• August 1: Star-Lord – Part 1 (8:58 PM ET/PT) & Part 2 (10:28 PM ET/PT)
• August 8: Groot – Part 1 (8:58 PM ET/PT) & Part 2 (9:58 PM ET/PT)
• August 15: Rocket Raccoon – Part 1 (8:58 PM ET/PT) & Part 2 (9:58 PM ET/PT)
• August 22: Drax – Part 1 (8:58 PM ET/PT) & Part 2 (9:58 PM ET/PT)
• August 29: Gamora – Part 1 (8:58 PM ET/PT) & Part 2 (9:58 PM ET/PT)

With new character shorts leading up to the premiere, it will be the perfect way for fans and viewers to refresh their memory on each character.
