Singer and songwriter Janelle Monáe recently took a trip to “Sesame Street” and treated everyone with a performance that was incredibly fun and inspiring. Monáe performed a song called “The Power of Yet” reminding the residents of the street and viewers about how important it is to follow your dreams while staying focused. The song also reminded everyone that things don’t always go according to your plans but that it will be okay and to keep moving forward.
The official description from the “Sesame Street” YouTube channel is as follows:
“Are you thinking that maybe you want to be an astronaut, or an author, or a scientist or a doctor? That’s great! And maybe you’re not quite up to speed on the centrifugal force of the moon or how many bones are in your arms, but if you believe in yourself, you’ll get there. That’s the power of yet. You might not be ready for outer space yet, but just work hard and keep your eye on the prize and you’ll get to where you want to be!”
Monáe had even told Billboard earlier this year that being on “Sesame Street” was “living one of her dreams.” She continued by saying that one should “never, ever, ever give up because there’s so much power in ‘yet.’” The singer honestly believes in the message she imparts on her fans and the viewers of this episode.
