ZipStix Review

Most of the toys now a day are about an end goal, something that needs to be completed and just not enough about using your imagination while having fun. Toys should be tools to grow your imagination and have fun in a creative way. ZipStix brings that sort of fun back in a nice compact package that travels well.

We were first introduced to ZipStix from Hog Wild at the latest Toy Fair and it is one of those products that is just fun to play with. They are a bit like a slap bracelet that has a launcher so it plays more like a skateboard type toy. The way it works is simple. You hook up the ZipStix to the launcher and press down on the end until you hear it click, you then release your finger and it curls up and shoots out of the launcher. Pretty easy concept and fun for all different ages to play with.

The great thing is that there is also a collectability aspect as well, as each of the ZipStix boards are part of team Turbo, Zilla, Blaster or Wild. In total there are 72 boards in Series One, and we can only imagine that there will be a Series Two at some point in the future. That is good for trading or just making sure you have your favorite boards in your collection to play with. The packs are at a great low price point so that the Starter Packs with 1 ZipStix and launcher are something you can pick up the kids on a whim. The other items include a 2 Pack which includes 2 ZipStix and some Crash Cones with a Stunt Pack and Mega Pack that include ZipStix, Launchers, Crash Cones and different types of ramps rounding out the product line. Even the larger items don’t break the bank, while providing a ton of entertainment value.

The boys had a great time with all of the packs finding multiple ways to play with them. At first they created different courses using the ramps and the cones where you had to get to the end of course without knocking over any of the cones along the way. The further your ZipStix got in the course the better. Then the next morning they found a new way to play, first they did Rock/Paper/Scissor game to figure out what boards each of them would pick since they had overlapping favorites and then they each setup their own set of cones in front of them. The name of the game involves using the ZipStix to knock over your opponents’ cones before they knock your cones over. Much laughter and fun was had by all.

You know a product is a hit when the first thing the boys both do when they wake up is get their ZipStix ready, plus we have found they store real well in a shoebox which is always a plus around the house. A product that should not be overlooked.

Note: ZipStix produces were provided for review from Hog Wild.

Have three kids, two boys (18 and 16) and a girl (12). I had a grandfather that watched cartoons and read the Sunday funnies until he passed. I feel the same way and continue to watch the Disney channel in my 40s. Check out our BSCKids youtube channel Current favorite show is Amphibia.
