To celebrate the day of love last week, Tiffany Houghton gave her TifFANies a special gift. On Valentine’s Day, Houghton released her new single, “Love Like That.”
The song hit iTunes last week along with a retro music video that presented on the front page of Vevo.com. The upbeat, acoustic song that references The Beatles and Johnny and Jun and in the video we get to flash back to a 1950’s house party with Tiffany and her girlfriends. The group indulges in colorful desserts and vinyl records donning the era’s teen heartthrobs.
“My manager is obsessed with American pop culture – especially the 50s and 60s! I’ve come to love it too and can’t help but relate to the themes of innocence and chivalry from the music of that time,” says Houghton.
“Love Like That” is the first of three releases from Houghton this spring. Her unique format of releasing music one song at a time, as opposed to an album or EP, isn’t a coincidence, but a deliberate delivery method which she believes enhances her art.
“I think an album cheapens a song,” Houghton explains in this month’s issue of Naked Magazine. “Each [of my] songs has an honest story and I want [them] to each have a life of their own…a video concept for each song [gives them] the life they deserve.”
“17 Again” and “Hey Boy” will debut later this spring. Houghton is currently on a college campus tour in conjunction with NACA.
