BSCkids: Aedin Mincks
When did you first decide you wanted to be an actor?
When my brother Austin started going to meetings with agents.
How supportive were your friends and family?
Thats a funny story. Originally my mom told the agents they would not want me when they kept saying they wanted to interview me as well. She thought I would not be able to handle it. But once they knew I really wanted to be an actor, they supported me 100%. When my family gets the idea to do something, we put 100% into it.
Tell us about your character Angus Chestnut on “A.N.T. Farm.”
Angus is a funny character. He is a computer genius and he is really confident and loves the ladies.
Do you share any similarities with you character?
I am not a computer whiz by any means. I am still learning how to do all of the social media stuff. I am however, pretty confident like Angus, I don’t really worry about what other people think. I don’t let things like that affect me.
Are your friends with your co-stars Sierra McCormick and Jake Short?
Sierra has to be the one I am closest too. My parents are friends with her parents and my brother and I are friends with Sierra and her sister. We go out sometimes after taping nights and stay out late and just hang out. Jake and I used to hang out but he is older than me and liked hanging out with my older brother more.
Do you have any funny stories from the set of the show?
One episode we did at the end of season 3 was a really fun one – Angus had some anger issues. At the end of the scene Dan Signer, the creator of the show, came out and started yelling and screaming like he had anger issues and it was just really hilarious because Dan is so quiet and soft-spoken and nice. It was unexpected! We all laughed so hard and they used it in our blooper reel for the wrap party.
Which has been your favorite episode so far and why?
“Anger ManagemANT.” I don’t want to give it away but it was just very funny!
Other than “A.N.T. Farm,” what is your favorite Disney Channel show?
Gravity falls!
You have worked on several other projects such as Ted, The Hangover Part II, and “New Girl.” What has been your favorite project?
Ted! because I got to go to Boston!
Which do you prefer more, television acting or movie acting?
Movies. Because you get to experience new places and travel. But I also love working on TV.
What actor have you learned the most from?
Honestly, I can’t say anyone has taught me how to perform but I would have to say I have learned the most from watching movies and tv shows. All different kinds. And the Lord of the Rings trilogy and behind the scenes on the dvd’s helped me to know this was what I wanted to do.
If you could work with any actor you haven’t already, who would it be?
Viggo Mortenson or Orlando Bloom.
What is the most difficult part about being a young actor?
I’d Just say all the confusion and thinking about how am I going to do this when I grow up and my parents aren’t by my side to help me?!
How did you juggle school and acting regularly?
I am home schooled so it kinda works its self out.
