Sesame Street Adds New Hispanic Neighbor

Sesame Street 500x500

“Sesame Street,” long running and beloved children’s series, is adding a new cast member to their family. Their new three part series chronicles the journey of the “Sesame Street” crew as they attempt to find the newest addition to the neighborhood. The three parts features an open casting call in New York City,  small group actors who were called back for the second round of auditions, and meeting the new member named Armando.

“Sesame Street” has been on the air since 1969 and shows no signs of slowing down. Rather, the show tends to follows trends and the changing times easily. As of 2009, “Sesame Street” has won 8 Grammy Awards and 143 Emmy Awards which is more than any other children’s show. Adding a new hispanic cast member is likely to add more diversification to the series and giving children more role models to look up to. There is a reason the show has lasted so long and I think it is a great way for children to learn as they are growing.

What do you think of their attempts to bring in a new cast member to the series? Do you think adding a new cast member was a good idea?

You can watch all three parts of the series from “Sesame Street” below:
