Anna Rose, the daughter of legendary Alan Menken of Disney & Broadway fame, has officially begun streaming her latest single, “Electric Child” from her forthcoming album Behold a Pale Horse. Magnet Magazine recently called the talented young woman, “a singer/songwriter who brings to mind Tori Amos’ haunting vocals with a distinct ’70s vibe of a childhood immersed in music history.”
Anna Rose has also released her breathtaking new video for the title track from her album, “Behold A Pale Horse” was directed by Jennifer Tzar and was filmed in Snowdonia, Wales. They decided to shoot in Snowdonia because of the unique mix of ruins, epic natural landscapes, and strong sense of history, which Anna felt very connected to. On August 27, 2012, AOL SPINNER chose it as their VIDEO OF THE DAY.
The young driven singer has cited her influences as Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, and calling celebrated guitarist Arlen Roth her mentor. What sets Anna apart from the masses of female singers is that she is a self-taught musician who has been in the music world her whole life. Her recent soulful, dark cover of the Arcade Fire’s “My Body Is a Cage.” The video, which premiered exclusively through NME and was shot by famed director Moh Azima (Cold War Kids, Interpol, The Hold Steady and Chromeo). It features Anna in the midst of some serious relationship troubles and was gorgeously shot on location in Brooklyn, New York.
Anna was recently also accepted to 2013 Canadian Music Week (Details TBD) and will be performing two headlining shows in New York City (2/6 at Sullivan Hall, 3/5 at Arlene’s Grocery).
