Lego® Ninjago, a graphic novel series from Papercutz has had its second volume, “Mask of the Sensei” shoot to the top of the New York Times Paperback Graphic Book Best Seller list immediately upon release. This was a first for Papercutz, a company that publishes graphic novels for children.

“Mask of the Sensei” achieves what has been building around the series since it debuted with its sell-out 190,000-copy first printing last fall.

The Papercutz editor-in-chief, JimSalicrup said,

“It’s no surprise to me that this series, based on the great characters created by the LEGO Group, is a big hit. I know that the toys have sold out at every store I’ve been to, so it’s clear thatthere’s a huge audience hungry for more. Now those fans have helped land LEGO Ninjago and Papercutz on the world-famous New York Times best seller list, as well!”

In the second graphic novel of the series, the four inseparable ninja friends, Cole, Zane, Jay, and Kai, are attacked bythe one foe they can’t possibly hope to defeat, their respected teacher and friend Sensei Wu. “Mask of the Sensei” was written by Greg Farshey who is also the author of the popular Bionicle graphic novel. It was illustrated by Paulo Henrique.

The adventures also continue in the Cartoon Network animated series and themassively multi-player online game, “LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.”
