Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure – We Talk to Joel, Alec, Paul and see Amare Stoudamire!

There was a lot of things going on during New York Comic Con 2011, but it seems the biggest players this time around were the video game companies. Well Activision and Toys for Bob really brought it together during a launch event for Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventurethat was hosted by Amare Stoudamire. This is the game we told you about previouslywhile we were at Toy Fair and now the official launch was finally here. We have some great pictures below, but even more exciting we have two interviews as well. The first one with Paul Reiche, President of Toys for Bob and the second one with Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen the writers. You may remember them from that gem Toy Story.

The event itself was very well planned and a great time for the children. I was fortunate enough to have my son Christopher meet Amare as well as play the game and do all sorts of fun events at the launch. It is something he will remember for a long time. He is super excited for Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventures and I think this is going to be a very hot toy for the holiday season. The game is very fun to play and bring the collectible aspect to the table with the figures. I think I do a pretty good job with the interviews though so check them out below and let me know if you have any questions.

Paul Reiche of Toys for Bob Interview. I talk with Paul about collectibles, what his job entails now that the game hits the shelves, what it means to make the big holiday lists, and a few other things.

Writers Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen talk to us about writing for a video game instead of a movie as well as Farmville and Toy Story 4.

You can check out the rest of my pictures below and I can say a great time was had by all. Paul, Alec, and Joel were so interesting to speak with and I can say this is going to be one heck of a ride breaking down the doors to a new way to play.

In Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure™, you can Bring Your Toys to Life™ in a boldly innovative adventure game where players collect real-world interaction figures and teleport them directly into the game using a mystical Portal of Power™. Propelled by a story-driven adventure, penned by Academy Award-nominated Toy Story feature film writers, Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow, players take on the role of a powerful Portal Master who can control over 30 different characters, including the beloved fire-breathing dragon Spyro. Players will embark on a fantastical journey into an amazing world, where they will explore mysterious, mythical lands, battle menacing outlandish creatures, collect gold and treasures, and solve interesting puzzles while on a quest to save their world from Kaos, an evil Portal Master. Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure changes the way we look at toys and videogames, as well as how we interact with them by introducing action figures that become interaction figures and remember all of their dynamic experiences created in the game. For the first time ever, players can personally customize and power-up their toys, as well as bring them to life on a friend’s Portal of Power for co-op play and player-versus-player arena battles. Additionally, with the freedom to change characters whenever they like, Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure allows kids to utilize different interaction figures and strategies each time they play.

Have three kids, two boys (18 and 16) and a girl (12). I had a grandfather that watched cartoons and read the Sunday funnies until he passed. I feel the same way and continue to watch the Disney channel in my 40s. Check out our BSCKids youtube channel Current favorite show is Amphibia.
