In 2010, we got to hear some great music put out by some incredible artists: Miranda Lambert’s Revolution, Taylor Swift’s Speak Now, Jack Johnson’s To the Sea, Keith Urban’s Get Closer, Kesha’s Animal, and Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now. All were extremely successful and have had several radio hits thus far. But let’s fast forward and get a look into what’s coming this year!
If you ever listen to country music, then you’ve probably heard of the new duo Thompson Square. Not only are they up and coming country stars, these two are also married! Husband and wife, Keifer and Shawna Thompson, make up this duo. Thompson Square’s single “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not” was released to radio airplay in September of 2010. However, they are not old news. Their self-titled album Thompson Square is set to be released on February 8. This dynamic duo has gotten quite a bit of hype. I am excited to hear what else they have for us in 2011!
We can also look forward to some great music by a couple well-known country artists. Sara Evans and Brad Paisley are both releasing albums this year. We have gotten a little taste of what it will sound like with their hit singles “A Little Bit Stronger” (Sara Evans) and “This is Country Music” (Brad Paisley). Sara Evans’ Stronger album is set to be released on March 8, while Brad Paisley’s This is Country Music is set for April 19. I have a feeling that both of these albums will be worth the purchase.
Moving away from country music, Beyoncé, Coldplay, and Death Cab for Cutie are all rumored to be releasing albums this year. All are untitled and the dates are not set, but they are definitely something to be looking forward to–I know I am.
The one and only Lady Gaga is always full of surprises, and I have no doubt that she won’t let us down with her new album that is said to be released sometime this year. The title is still to be announced, and also the release date. Lady Gaga had an incredibly successful year in 2010, bringing home several music awards and video awards, and wowing audiences with her unique attire. If last year was any indication of what Gaga’s career will look like this year, we will not be disappointed.
Twilight actor Boo Boo Stewart (Seth Clearwater) is now pursuing a musical career. He and his younger sister, Fivel, are launching their career with their debut album Change. It will feature 11 original songs. These two make quite the duo. I had the wonderful opportunity to interview these siblings. They are incredibly talented! Boo Boo and Fivel are considered the “new faces to watch in Hollywood.” To hear a little taste of their music, listen to their new single “Rainy Day,” which will be on the album Change, and be watching for the interview on this site soon.
Disney channel actor and band member of the musical sensation The Jonas Brothers, Joe Jonas, is rumored to have an album released this year. The date and name is still unknown. It will be interesting to see what he does as a solo artist.
And since I’m writing this article, I am going to put a plug in about a young, UNSIGNED, upcoming country artist, MacKayla Hunter (me 🙂 ). My new single, “All of Me,” is set to be released on iTunes on February 25th. You can also check out my new EP Bitter & Sweet.
These are just a few of the many great albums that I am looking forward to this year. Overall, I think that 2011 will be a great year in the music industry!
