Selena Gomez On The 15th Anniversary Cover Of Latina

Sep - 08 2011 | Sarah Peel | 12 comments

Selena Gomez has been a favorite for Latina magazine, with a few covers and interviews under her belt, so they would, of course, choose her to model for the cover of their 15th anniversary issue. She shares the cover with the likes of Shakira and Eva Longoria. You can watch her mini-interview at the bottom of this post.

Selena has been listed before in the magazine in a few issues, but her best friend Demi Lovato seems to be ignored. However, Selena is listed along side some other amazing Latinas in show biz. It just seems unfair that Demi who has done a lot of good charity work, plus an amazing singer/actress and yet she’s ignored.

The list seems to be limited, but at least we can say that Selena had the chance to be honored.

Selena should be happy that she was mentioned in this issue. It is an honor for them wanting to celebrate and even highlight those around them who are Latinas. I just wish that they would have named Demi. I do not see any reason for her not to be listed, she sounds like she would be a prime candidate for it but for some reason they did not list her in it. What do you think about them honoring and celebrating with Selena?

Uh Why would Demi Lovato be on a magazine focused on Latinos? She’s not Mexican. She’s as white as they come!

  2. Mila says:

Demi Lovato is part Mexican I believe through her mother. I agree that it’s not fair that Demi isn’t featured in the mag, since she started out around the same time as Selena Gomez and has accomplished a lot. Maybe next time she’ll be featured in Latina magazine someday.

Actually James she isn’t. She’s part Mexican. I can’t believe that they didn’t put her in it. She is more than qualified. She has beauty, (true) talent and smarts. Ugh talk about uncredited. I’m from P.R and I’m ashamed they didn’t put her in it. I’m happy for Selena though :) . However they need to give talent to where it’s deserved. This is just popularity. REAL talk.

Can’t wait to go to Demi’s concert in NY :D . 1 week.

Demi is not Mexican she is Italian and yes she should still be included on the list.

i agree Demi should be inculded bc she is half mexican and they always ignore her. Im prettysure that the only rean why ppl know selena is mexican is becuase of her last name. Demi speaks better spanish also.

More like your ridiculous for making her boyfriend an excuse for the great things SG has done. Selena has been on the covers of Latina for more than 2 years now & has done way more than star on her own Emmy winning show & proved to be a excellent actress out of many ranges & shined as her own persona in Disney, she is here for herself! She has made herself a star, her personal life just makes her get unwanted attention & people like you can just complain & cry & say all the dirty crap you have to say but she will still be successeding. Yes, she may not be no Nina Simone, but she does sing & she makes good music, & that’s what counts!

      Judgemental Pricks.

What the hell is wrong with you guys getting mad over Selena getting recognition? Really she doesn’t “deserve” what she is getting? Yeah, she doesn’t deserve the pityless HATE, dumbfounded thoughts & accusations most ignorants say of her, but as a FAN who knows every step SG has made in her career for the past decade, she has worked her *** off & to see her getting it all overshadowed by her personal life & dating this teenaged idol, is just shameful. For people to get blinded & suggest things by rumors & what they think they see is what it is just shows how unbelievably dumb many young ones are these days. FYI, Selena has been on the cover for two times already during the 2000′s and represents way more of the Latino Community to Young Hollywood than Demi has ever done. Don’t get me wrong, Lovatics! I love me some Demi, but Selena is a major entreprenuer, and has made much more work than Demi has community & career wise. Both deserve all the respect they should get, but in this case, Latinas worldwide recognize SG much more relatively than Miss Lovato. I can’t wait for the day Selena dumps that kid of Bieber and all these 12 year olds on the internet can shut their mouths for once, since their mother can’t teach them some damn manners.

I agree, BSCkids, on Demi getting recognition, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t getting recognized in Latina Mag, Ive get montly mags for a long time now, and she has been recognized for much of what she does.
Selena deserves every good thing she is getting too BSC! Love the EDITION BTW!!! Got my own already in the mail!

I agree with you 100% that there is no need for the negative comments about Selena Gomez. However, Demi has represented the Latino Community in Hollywood. Just from her shows/movies alone, she has played Hispanic and even had Spanish last names. Now obviously Selena has played Hispanic as well, but she usually doesn’t have the Spanish last name like Demi(not saying not having a Spanish last name makes Selena any less Hispanic, but it’s obvious what ethnicity the character is that she is playing, instead of just assuming the character is Hispanic because Selena is..i.e Ramona and Beezus..As far as I know, Beezus wasn’t a Latina..lol). Demi has even done things like taking part in the Voto Latino ‘Be Counted’ PSA, which was an effort to get Latino-Americans counted in the 2010 Census. In summary, Selena deserved the award, but I just feel like Demi should have been honored as well :)
