One of the newest breakout franchises for young audiences is preparing to take its next major step.
Following its success across streaming, publishing and consumer products, Unicorn Academy is officially expanding into the video game space with Unicorn Academy: Island of Magic, giving fans their first opportunity to step directly into the magical world of Unicorn Island.
Developed by Aesir Interactive and published by Mindscape in partnership with Spin Master, the upcoming adventure game invites players to become first-year students at Unicorn Academy as they create their own custom rider, form a magical bond with a unicorn and join the heroes of the hit animated series on an all-new interactive adventure.
Rather than simply retelling the show’s story, Island of Magic allows players to become part of the world themselves. Alongside familiar characters including Sophia, Ava, Layla, Isabel, Valentina and Rory, players will explore Unicorn Island, uncover hidden secrets and work together to stop Ravenzella’s latest attempt to seize control of the magical realm.
Magic also plays a central role throughout the experience. Players will master elemental unicorn abilities to solve environmental puzzles, complete challenges and unlock new areas while strengthening the connection with their unicorn through grooming, racing and everyday activities that deepen their friendship over time.
Customization is another major focus, allowing players to personalize both their rider and unicorn with a variety of hairstyles, outfits and accessories while creating an adventure unique to their own journey through the academy.
The game marks another important milestone for Unicorn Academy as Spin Master continues expanding the franchise beyond its animated roots. Like many of today’s fastest-growing children’s brands, the series is evolving into a multi-platform entertainment property where fans can watch the adventures, read the stories, collect the toys—and now experience the world firsthand through interactive gameplay.
With Unicorn Academy: Island of Magic arriving later this year on Steam and Nintendo Switch, one of animation’s newest girls’ franchises is continuing to grow its footprint, giving fans another immersive way to connect with the magical world that has quickly become one of the genre’s rising stars.
