Sonic the Hedgehog Is Racing Into Lingokids With All-New Educational Games This December!

Get ready to race into a whole new adventure because everyone’s favorite blue hedgehog is bringing his signature speed to the world of educational gaming!

For more than three decades, Sonic the Hedgehog has been entertaining generations of fans through video games, animated series and films. And while the franchise has continued to grow and introduce new adventures over the years, there’s now another way for some of its youngest fans to join Sonic and his friends.

That’s right, SEGA is teaming up with the popular children’s learning platform Lingokids for an all-new collection of interactive educational games, bringing the colorful world of Sonic the Hedgehog into a series of activities designed specifically for young children.

Announced exclusively through Variety, the new partnership will introduce five Sonic-themed games to Lingokids beginning December 3, 2026, with another five games planned for spring 2027.

And Sonic won’t be heading into these adventures alone!

Joining the iconic blue hedgehog are several familiar faces from the franchise, including Amy Rose, Dr. Eggman and the adorable Chao, as children explore a collection of activities combining the familiar excitement of Sonic with early learning experiences.

Developed by SEGA and Lingokids Studios, the games will encourage children to practice spelling, letter recognition and action verbs while racing through familiar locations like Green Hill Zone. Other activities will introduce young players to fruits and flowers as they guide Sonic and his friends through colorful environments, while creative challenges will allow them to paint scenes featuring their favorite characters.

But beyond bringing the familiar world of Sonic into an educational setting, the collaboration also comes in response to something rather interesting.

According to Lingokids’ 2026 Kids Interactive Entertainment Report, Sonic ranks as the second-most popular character among boys ages three to eight. And as it turns out, the character has also become the most searched-for property on the platform, with families actively looking for ways to introduce their children to the franchise.

Something that makes this collaboration particularly fitting, especially as longtime Sonic fans are now getting the opportunity to share the characters and adventures they grew up with alongside a new generation.

And with Lingokids focusing on age-appropriate interactive experiences, the new games will offer a different introduction to the franchise, one centered on creativity, exploration and early childhood learning rather than traditional action gameplay.

The platform also emphasizes a child-friendly environment without advertisements or chat features, with educational experts reviewing its content.

With more than 20 million children using Lingokids each month, the platform has continued expanding its collection of educational entertainment through partnerships with major names including Disney, Blippi, NASA and BBC Earth.

Now, Sonic the Hedgehog is joining that lineup, bringing one of gaming’s most recognizable characters into a new kind of adventure for preschool and early elementary audiences.

The first five Sonic the Hedgehog educational games will launch on Lingokids on December 3, 2026, followed by five additional games in spring 2027.

And for young fans who are ready to race alongside Sonic and his friends, it looks like learning is about to get a little faster!
