Time is said to change all.
While, in-universe, each generation of Hunters has adapted to a changing world and evolving music industry, some of the biggest transformations can happen in far smaller windows of time.
Though it feels strange to stop and think about it in the present, today marks the one-year anniversary of when animated music phenomenon Rumi, Mira and Zoey first struck a pose at center stage beneath the glow of spotlights and a sea of light sticks stretching into the crowd.
In just twelve short months, this musical and magical trio has shown the world exactly how it’s done… done, done.
A year can change a lot.
For KPop Demon Hunters, it was transformative.
After all, the power of the fans—and the Honmoon—has never been stronger.
As KPop Demon Hunters celebrates its first anniversary today on June 20, it feels like the perfect opportunity to look back on a year unlike any other.
Because before we look at where the franchise is going next, it is worth remembering just how far it has already come.
Since debuting on June 20, 2025, KPop Demon Hunters has accumulated more than 600 million views worldwide, becoming Netflix’s most popular original title ever. The film has spent an astonishing 52 consecutive weeks inside Netflix’s Global Top 10, becoming the only title in company history to achieve the feat.
The film reached the Top 10 in all 93 countries where Netflix tracks rankings while climbing to the number one position in 76 of them. In the United States alone, it generated 20.5 billion viewing minutes according to Nielsen’s year-end data, making it the most-streamed movie of 2025.
Of course, audiences weren’t simply watching.
They were returning.
Again and again.
Netflix revealed viewers have saved more than 1.5 million unique Moments from the film, with the Saja Boys’ unforgettable performance of “Soda Pop” becoming the most-saved scene. Even the film’s lyric videos have generated an additional 32 million views worldwide.
Then there was the music.
Because if the film captured hearts, the soundtrack captured the world.
The soundtrack has generated more than 15 billion streams worldwide, becoming the most-streamed soundtrack of the decade. More than 17,000 playlists now feature songs from the film, while tracks performed by HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys have surpassed one billion combined streams across Spotify and YouTube.
Leading the charge was the now-iconic anthem, “Golden.”
The song spent 18 weeks atop the Billboard Global 200 and eight weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In doing so, it became the first female K-pop act to top the Hot 100, the longest-running number one by a female group of the century and the fastest song ever to enter Spotify’s Billions Club.
Meanwhile, “Soda Pop” climbed all the way to number three on the Billboard Hot 100, helping KPop Demon Hunters place four songs inside the chart’s Top 10 simultaneously.
The accolades soon followed.
KPop Demon Hunters captured Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. “Golden” became the first K-pop song in history to win an Oscar while later making Grammy history as the first K-pop song to win Best Song Written for Visual Media.
The film also secured Golden Globe victories, while co-director Maggie Kang became the first woman of Korean descent to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
Yet perhaps the most impressive accomplishment is how the film escaped the boundaries of entertainment itself.
The franchise generated an incredible 4.6 billion social impressions worldwide, including 2.3 billion from the official “Golden” lyric video alone. Its Roblox experience accumulated more than 11.5 million hours of gameplay as fans continued finding new ways to engage with the world of HUNTR/X.
The impact stretched even further.
South Korea reportedly saw a 25% increase in flight reservations following the film’s release. Bunjang reported a 78% surge in cross-border purchases of K-pop consumer products. Duolingo recorded a 22% increase in Korean language learners in the United States.
On Google, KPop Demon Hunters became the number one movie search of 2025, generated three of the year’s top songs, ranked as the second overall trending search and even claimed all five of Google’s most-searched Halloween costumes.
Even publishing joined the movement.
Little Golden Books’ “For the Fans” has sold more than 1.6 million copies across multiple territories, reached number one on The New York Times Bestseller list and remained on the publication’s Picture Book Bestseller rankings for eighteen weeks.
One year later, it is clear this was never simply a successful animated film.
It became a global franchise.
And now, Netflix is inviting fans around the world to celebrate that journey.
The festivities are taking place across the globe.
Fans will once again have the opportunity to experience the film on the big screen through special anniversary screenings across the United States and internationally. Countries including South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Israel will all be taking part in the celebration.
Meanwhile, outdoor screenings in locations such as Atlanta, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Minneapolis and Cleveland will bring communities together under the summer sky to celebrate a story that has connected millions around the world.
Of course, not every fan can make it to a theater.
That is why Netflix is also hosting a massive nine-hour global TikTok watch party on June 20.
Throughout the event, viewers can watch the original film, the Sing-Along version, Korean version and Brazilian Portuguese version while enjoying appearances from creators, cast members, influencers and fellow fans. The livestream will also feature commentary, special segments, never-before-seen animatics and additional surprises designed to celebrate the anniversary in real time.
The celebration extends far beyond simply revisiting the past.
Netflix House locations will host special anniversary activities throughout the week while helping build anticipation for one of the franchise’s biggest announcements yet.
Later this holiday season, both Netflix House locations in Philadelphia and Dallas will welcome guests to KPop Demon Hunters: The Immersive Experience.
A holiday experience every Hunter will want to keep an eye on.
After all, if there are presents, decorations and Christmas trees involved, we can only imagine the amount of chaos Derpy Tiger is capable of creating.
While details remain limited, the attraction promises to bring together everything fans love about the film. From the music and action to HUNTR/X, the Saja Boys and even Derpy Tiger himself, audiences will soon have the chance to step directly into the world that captured their hearts.
Fans looking for something interactive right now will also be able to jump into a brand-new KPop Demon Hunters experience inside Netflix Playground beginning June 20.
The experience includes six mobile minigames ranging from DJ mixing and rhythm-based Honmoon Beats challenges to puzzles, sticker collecting and other activities inspired by the world of the film.
And for those looking to bring a little bit of the Pride into their own homes, the anniversary celebrations continue through a growing collection of merchandise and fan experiences.
Global merchandise pop-up events will travel throughout Seoul, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Singapore, Bangkok, Taipei, Dubai, Frankfurt, Gurugram, Tokyo and Los Angeles throughout the remainder of the year, giving Hunters around the world new opportunities to celebrate the franchise together.
Meanwhile, new offerings from LEGO, Mattel, Hasbro, Jazwares, Vans, Loungefly and other partners continue to expand the ways fans can connect with their favorite characters.
Because perhaps that is what makes this anniversary feel so special.
It isn’t simply about looking back.
It is about looking forward.
One year later, this story isn’t slowing down.
Through music, experiences, community events, global celebrations and the passion of millions of fans around the world, HUNTR/X continues to prove that some songs don’t simply top the charts.
They become part of people’s lives.
And if this anniversary celebration is any indication, the next chapter may only be getting started.
