Get ready to pack your diapers, dodge danger and head back into one of the most unforgettable eras of Nickelodeon gaming.
Limited Run Games is officially bringing the beloved world of Rugrats back to modern consoles with the newly announced Rugrats: Retro Rewind collection. Featuring six classic adventures inspired by Tommy Pickles and the rest of the iconic gang, the upcoming release revives some of the most memorable Rugrats titles from the late 90s and early 2000s for both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 players.
For many fans, the original launch of Rugrats: Search for Reptar on the original PlayStation back in 1998 marked the beginning of a generation of imaginative and chaotic adventures starring Nickelodeon’s most beloved babies. From hunting down missing puzzle pieces to traveling through time, rescuing Dil and surviving movie studio disasters, the Rugrats gaming era became a memorable extension of the animated franchise itself.
Now, that nostalgia is returning in one massive retro collection.
Rugrats: Retro Rewind bundles together six classic titles from across multiple generations of gaming hardware, including PlayStation, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance releases. Included in the collection are:
- Rugrats: Search for Reptar
- The Rugrats Movie
- Rugrats: Time Travelers
- Rugrats: Studio Tour
- Rugrats in Paris: The Movie
- Rugrats: Castle Capers
Alongside the return of the classic titles themselves, the collection also introduces several modern quality-of-life upgrades designed to make the retro experience smoother for today’s players. Fans can enable retro-inspired CRT screen filters, utilize a save anywhere feature, rewind difficult gameplay moments and even listen to the soundtrack separately through an included music player.
Physical collectors also have plenty to be excited about. The release includes both a Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. Alongside the physical copy of the game itself, the Deluxe Edition features a PlayStation-inspired retro game case, soundtrack, stickers and even a Reptar puzzle piece keychain designed to fully lean into the collection’s nostalgic presentation.
Pre-orders for Rugrats: Retro Rewind officially open through the Limited Run Games website beginning May 1 and continue through May 31, while digital versions of the collection arrive May 15 for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.
At a time where retro gaming collections continue to grow in popularity, Rugrats: Retro Rewind feels less like a simple re-release and more like a celebration of an entire era of Nickelodeon gaming. For longtime fans who grew up guiding Tommy and the gang through toy stores, castles and movie sets, this latest collection may be the perfect excuse to relive those childhood adventures all over again.
