“The Marsupilamis” Are Coming to Nick Jr.! Beloved Comic Book Characters Make Their U.S. Debut

Some characters have a rather remarkable ability to transcend generations, finding new audiences and adventures decades after their original introduction. And while many of these beloved faces have become household names around the world, others are only now preparing to make their way into the homes of American audiences.

And this time, we’re welcoming a particularly unusual group of creatures whose extraordinary tails and mischievous personalities have been charming audiences for more than 70 years!

Nick Jr. is officially welcoming The Marsupilamis to its programming lineup, with the new animated series making its United States debut on October 19, 2026, following its successful international rollout across Nickelodeon’s global networks.

Produced by Ellipse Animation and Belvision, the 52-episode animated comedy brings a fresh interpretation of the beloved Marsupilami characters, originally created by Belgian cartoonist André Franquin. First introduced more than seven decades ago, these spotted creatures have become recognizable for their incredibly long tails, energetic personalities and distinctive “Hoobah” language, appearing across comics, television, films and video games.

But in this newest adventure, the Marsupilamis are leaving their familiar jungle surroundings behind for somewhere entirely different: the city!

The series follows twins Jade and Mica, whose ordinary lives take a rather extraordinary turn when their explorer parents entrust them with three mysterious Marsupilami eggs. Once the eggs hatch, the siblings suddenly find themselves responsible for three energetic creatures whose existence must remain a secret. And considering their unusual abilities and mischievous nature, keeping them hidden is certainly easier said than done!

Leading the creative team is director Célestine Plays, known for Grizzy and the Lemmings, alongside head writers Andrew Barnett Jones and Ciaran Murtagh, whose previous credits include The Amazing World of Gumball. The series also features artistic direction from Guilhem Deckers, who worked on Minions 2.

The American premiere represents another important milestone for the franchise, which has already reached audiences across several international markets, including France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada. Its arrival also follows the recent North American publication of a comic book volume inspired by the animated series through Abrams.

And with a combination of slapstick humor, imaginative adventures and a trio of creatures who are anything but ordinary, The Marsupilamis looks to introduce a whole new generation of young viewers to a beloved European comic book legacy.

The Marsupilamis premieres October 19 on Nick Jr. in the United States.

Jocelin Cap: Mother of three. That does not include the dog or my husband either! We have a full household of fun and we just love trying new products of all varieties. May not watch as many kids shows as the rest of the family though.
