We are officially getting close to the beginning of a new Avatar’s story.
With “Avatar: Seven Havens” set to make its global Paramount+ debut on October 9, we have spent plenty of time looking at Pavi, the shattered world she is about to inherit and just how different this newest chapter of the “Avatar” universe promises to be.
Now, we know the names of the first chapters we’ll actually be stepping into.
The official Avatar Legends Instagram account has revealed that the first season of “Avatar: Seven Havens” will officially be known as Book One: Survival, along with the titles of the three episodes arriving on premiere day.
Chapter One: “On the Horizon”
Chapter Two: “Into the Storm”
Chapter Three: “The Order”
And while three episode titles don’t tell us exactly what is waiting for Pavi when the series begins, they certainly give us plenty to think about.
First, there is that Book title.
“Survival” is a particularly fitting—and rather ominous—way to introduce this new era of “Avatar.” We already know Pavi isn’t entering the kind of world Aang or Korra inherited. The Seven Havens exist following a devastating cataclysm, civilization’s remaining strongholds are in danger of collapsing and, instead of welcoming the discovery of another Avatar as a sign of hope, people have been taught to fear what Pavi represents.
This isn’t simply a story about learning how to become the Avatar.
Before Pavi can worry about saving the world, it sounds like surviving it may be the more immediate concern.
Then there are the individual chapters.
“On the Horizon” feels appropriately suited for a premiere, especially for a series introducing an entirely new age of the “Avatar” universe. There is a new Avatar, a radically changed world and plenty still waiting beyond what we have seen in the trailer.
But things apparently won’t remain on the horizon for very long.
Chapter Two is titled “Into the Storm,” suggesting that whatever awaits Pavi in the premiere may quickly pull her deeper into the danger surrounding the Seven Havens. Whether that storm is literal, figurative or a little bit of both remains to be seen, but it certainly doesn’t sound like we’re getting much time to settle in.
And then things become particularly interesting with Chapter Three: “The Order.”
What exactly is The Order?
That is a question we’re going to have to wait until October 9 to answer. The title could point toward a group, organization, command or something completely different within this new world, but for now, Paramount+ and Avatar Legends aren’t giving away the answer.
Which is probably for the best.
After all, part of the fun of entering a new “Avatar” era is getting to discover its rules, cultures, conflicts and mysteries as its characters do.
What these titles do give us is our first small glimpse at the shape of Pavi’s opening adventure. “On the Horizon” becomes “Into the Storm,” which ultimately leads us to “The Order,” all underneath a Book appropriately named “Survival.”
That sounds like a rather eventful first three chapters.
“Avatar: Seven Havens” will premiere globally on Paramount+ with its first three episodes on Friday, October 9. Chapters 4-6 will follow on October 16, Chapters 7-9 on October 23 and the final four episodes of the 13-episode first Book will arrive October 30.
We already know Pavi’s world.
We know some of the people who will be traveling through it.
And we know the enormous danger waiting for its newest Avatar.
Now, at last, we know where her story begins.
