For more than 40 years, Transformers fans have been able to bring the Autobots and Decepticons home, transform them back and forth and, depending on the generation, probably spend at least a little time trying to remember exactly which direction that one stubborn piece was supposed to turn.
Yet there is always room for a little more than meets the eye.
The Noble Collection has entered into a new multi-year global licensing partnership with Hasbro to create an assortment of products inspired by the world of “Transformers.” Rather than focusing solely on the transforming figures that have defined the franchise since its earliest days, the new agreement will expand into accessories, stationery, games and collectibles.
Better still for longtime fans, the collection is reaching across generations.
The agreement covers Transformers Generations, including the original G1 era that helped start it all as well as the live-action film franchise. That gives The Noble Collection more than four decades of Autobots, Decepticons and different interpretations of familiar characters to pull from as the line continues to grow.
The first assortment is already beginning to roll out, with articulated keychains, unisex bracelets and dioramas among the debut products. Additional releases are expected to follow as part of the multi-year partnership, with distribution planned across North America, Europe and other regions around the world.
It is an interesting direction for a franchise that has always had toys woven directly into its identity. Since debuting in 1984, “Transformers” has expanded well beyond its original animated adventures and toy aisles into comics, additional television series and blockbuster films, allowing characters such as Optimus Prime and Megatron to continually find new generations of fans.
That history also means “Transformers” merchandise no longer has to appeal exclusively to someone looking for the next figure to transform. There are now adults who grew up watching G1 alongside younger fans introduced through the movies, television series and decades of toys that followed. A product line able to reach across those different eras has quite a lot of Cybertronian history at its disposal.
The Noble Collection is certainly no stranger to turning recognizable fictional worlds into display pieces and collectibles, and with this agreement extending beyond a single release, it will be interesting to see just how deep into the “Transformers” universe future products venture.

After more than 40 years, Optimus Prime and company certainly know how to transform.
This time, it is the merchandise getting a new form.
