Apparently SpongeBob SquarePants isn’t satisfied with giving us life advice.
Now he’s coming for our kitchens, too.
And given his decades of experience as the Krusty Krab’s most enthusiastic fry cook, perhaps this is one area where we really should listen.
Ten Speed Press, under license from Paramount, is bringing the flavors of Bikini Bottom above sea level with The Official SpongeBob SquarePants Cookbook: Over 50 Treasured Recipes from Under the Sea.
Arriving September 22, the new 176-page cookbook features more than 50 recipes inspired by SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy and the rest of Bikini Bottom’s colorful residents.
And no, Krusty Krab fry cook training is required.
Wait.
Actually, apparently it isn’t.
Among the recipes are foods fans may already recognize from the series, including Hot Crossed Nuts, Canned Bread and Radioactive Popcorn, alongside an assortment of tiki-inspired dishes, colorful drinks and desserts.
Because what else would you expect from a place where pineapples are considered perfectly acceptable real estate?
Fans can also try their hand at Sea Pickle Chips, Swedish Barnacle Balls, Sandy’s Texas-Style Chili Con Carne, Krakatoa Lava Cake and Patrick’s Pink Punch.
There is even a Double Dark Deep Sea Cake.
Chocolate, naturally.
While bringing foods from fictional worlds into our own kitchens is always fun, SpongeBob SquarePants might be particularly well suited for the cookbook treatment.
Food has been part of the show’s DNA practically from the moment SpongeBob first walked into the Krusty Krab. From his beloved Krabby Patties to some of the considerably stranger things residents of Bikini Bottom have consumed over the years, there is certainly no shortage of material waiting to make the journey from under the sea to the dinner table.
Though before anyone asks, no.
The Krabby Patty secret formula isn’t getting out of us that easily.
The recipes are designed for cooks of varying skill levels, with vegetarian-friendly recipes or vegetarian alternatives included throughout the collection.
