Uglydoll Is Back! Jazwares Brings the Beloved Characters to a New Generation

Sometimes everything old—and delightfully ugly—gets another chance to become new again.

More than two decades after Uglydoll first introduced toy fans to its wonderfully weird collection of characters, the beloved brand is preparing for another trip to toy shelves. And this time, a whole new generation of kids will get the chance to discover just what made these unusual friends so lovable in the first place.

Jazwares and Pretty Ugly have announced a new long-term partnership that will see Uglydoll make a major return to retail beginning in fall 2027, with an expansive collection of toys and collectibles planned for fans around the world.

And this isn’t going to be a small comeback.

Jazwares will develop everything from new plush and multiscale figures to collectible vinyls, accessories, role-play toys, costumes, construction sets, novelties and more. Better yet for longtime fans, the upcoming collection will draw inspiration from the original Uglydoll artwork and the distinctive personality that helped turn the independently created plush line into a global franchise.

First introduced in 2001, Uglydoll arrived during a very different era of the toy aisle.

Rather than being built around an existing television series, movie or major entertainment franchise, these quirky characters allowed the toys themselves to do much of the storytelling. Their strange designs, individual personalities and character tags gave kids something to latch onto while leaving plenty of room for them to decide exactly what adventures their new friends might have.

And perhaps that is part of what makes an Uglydoll return feel particularly interesting today.

Kids certainly aren’t lacking for characters to play with. Toy aisles are packed with familiar faces pulled from movies, television, video games and online worlds. Yet there remains something special about meeting a character through the toy itself and allowing play to build the rest of its world.

Uglydoll also carries another advantage into its new era: the kids who originally discovered the brand aren’t necessarily kids anymore.

More than 25 years after its debut, some of those original fans are now parents who can introduce characters they once collected to their own children. At the same time, Jazwares’ planned vinyls, figures and other collectibles give those grown-up fans plenty of reasons to come back themselves.

That combination of nostalgia for older collectors and discovery for younger fans could give Uglydoll an interesting place in today’s increasingly multigenerational toy landscape.

And at the heart of it all remains the idea that made these unusual little characters work in the first place.

Uglydoll has always celebrated being different.

These characters were strange, imperfect, colorful and proudly themselves—turning the very idea of being “ugly” into something charming and worth celebrating.

Now Wage, Babo, Ice-Bat and the rest of the wonderfully weird Uglydoll world are getting another opportunity to make their way into homes, collections and plenty of new adventures.

The first products from Jazwares’ new Uglydoll collection will arrive worldwide in fall 2027.

So clear a little room on that plush pile.

Things are about to get ugly again—and we couldn’t be happier about it.
