Step Inside Casita as Disney’s “Encanto” Comes to Life at Animal Kingdom

The doors to Casita are opening once more.

Since arriving on the big screen back in 2021, Disney’s Encanto has become one of the studio’s biggest modern animated stories. From the music that seemingly everyone had stuck in their heads to the colorful Madrigal family and their magical gifts, the film quickly found a place among a new generation of Disney fans.

And now, we won’t simply have to watch the magic from our screens.

We’re going inside Casita.

As Disney’s Animal Kingdom continues to undergo one of its largest transformations in years, Disney has revealed a massive collection of new details surrounding the upcoming Encanto attraction that will serve as one of the headlining adventures inside the park’s new Tropical Americas land.

Officially titled Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, the attraction will invite families directly into the Madrigal home for an all-new celebration built around Antonio and his incredible ability to communicate with animals.

And rather than simply retelling the movie we already know, Disney is using the attraction to expand the world of Encanto.

The story takes place during Antonio’s gift day, with guests welcomed into Casita as part of the celebration. Once inside, riders will board vehicles created from different pieces of furniture that Casita has magically assembled to carry everyone through the house.

But this is Casita we’re talking about.

So naturally, even the furniture has a personality.

The ride vehicles will react to the adventure happening around them as guests travel through familiar spaces alongside entirely new sections of the magical house that were never explored in the original film.

Eventually, the celebration will take everyone upstairs and into Antonio’s room.

And that’s where Animal Kingdom really gets to shine.

Antonio’s Room Is Coming to Life

Those massive doors in Encanto gave us a glimpse into Antonio’s incredible rainforest-inspired room, but the attraction is going much further.

Guests will enter a lush rainforest filled with more than 50 animals, ranging from a capybara getting its hair trimmed to toucans, donkeys and plenty of other creatures waiting throughout the environment.

Disney Imagineering worked alongside Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team to make sure the animals represented throughout the attraction are accurate to Colombia, while research trips to the country helped influence the colors, materials, architecture and overall world being created around guests.

It’s a pairing that makes Encanto feel like an especially natural fit for Animal Kingdom.

The Madrigals’ magic might bring us through the door, but Antonio’s connection to animals allows Disney to weave the themes of the film directly into those that have defined Animal Kingdom from the beginning.

At the heart of the attraction is the idea that regardless of what gifts we may have, we’re all part of the same family of living things.

And the Madrigals themselves are coming along for the adventure.

Stephanie Beatriz, Jessica Darrow and Diane Guerrero are returning as Mirabel, Luisa and Isabela, respectively, helping make this new chapter feel like an extension of the animated world rather than simply an attraction inspired by it.

Even better for families with younger Disney fans, Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto will have no height requirement, allowing everyone to step inside Casita together.

More Disney Characters Are Joining the Tropical Americas

The Encanto attraction isn’t the only family-friendly experience coming to this new corner of Animal Kingdom.

Disney also revealed the official name for its previously announced carousel: El Carrusel de los Animalitos.

The attraction will feature 22 hand-carved animal figures inspired by Disney and Pixar stories, taking one of the most traditional Disney Parks attractions and giving it an Animal Kingdom twist.

Together, the carousel and Encanto will sit alongside the much more adventurous Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, giving Tropical Americas experiences aimed at several different age groups.

The land will also feature a massive hacienda that will become one of Walt Disney World’s largest quick-service restaurants, shopping and a Maya-inspired play area where younger explorers can dig for artifacts.

But there is something particularly exciting about finally getting to walk through the doors of Casita.

Disney has spent decades finding ways to take worlds that once existed only on our screens and make them tangible. Now one of Disney Animation’s biggest films of the last several years is getting that same opportunity.

We’ve already met Mirabel and the Madrigals.

We’ve already discovered their gifts.

Now it’s finally time to become part of the familia and step inside their magical home.
