“Warrior Cats” To Become Animated Project

The world of Warrior Cats is finally making the leap to animation.

Fans of Erin Hunter’s beloved fantasy book series have exciting news to celebrate as an official animated adaptation of Warrior Cats has been given the green light, bringing one of children’s publishing’s most successful franchises to screens for the very first time.

Leading the project are two major names in animation. Acclaimed showrunner A.C. Bradley, known for her work on What If…? and Ms. Marvel, has joined the series alongside Emmy Award-winning director Rodrigo Blaas, whose credits include Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia.

Based on the bestselling Warrior Cats: The Prophecies Begin novels, the series will follow the adventures, rivalries and challenges faced by the feral cat clans that have captivated readers around the globe for more than two decades.

The animated series comes from a partnership between Tencent Video and Coolabi Group, with production already underway. Original Force is serving as lead producer, while Blaas will direct through his Madrid-based El Guiri Studios. The series is currently targeting a 2028 debut across Tencent Video platforms throughout China and Southeast Asia.

For longtime fans, this announcement marks a major milestone. Despite the franchise’s immense popularity, Warrior Cats has never received an official animated adaptation. Previous attempts to bring the story to the screen took different forms, but this project will be the first authorized animated series based directly on the books.

And the numbers behind the franchise speak for themselves. Since its debut, Warrior Cats has sold more than 90 million books worldwide and has been translated into 38 languages. The fandom continues to thrive online as well, generating millions of views across YouTube, TikTok and gaming platforms such as Roblox.

With production now officially underway and a talented creative team helping lead the charge, the journey to bring the forest clans to life has finally begun.
