Some characters never truly leave.
Instead, they simply find new ways to connect with the next generation.
For families who grew up with Shaun the Sheep and Timmy Time, a familiar face will soon be returning to screens as Aardman and the BBC have officially announced Let’s Go Timmy!, a brand-new series arriving in 2027.
The announcement was made during Aardman’s presentation at this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where audiences were treated to a first look at the upcoming preschool adventure.
Set once again in the world of Mossy Bottom Farm, the series follows Timmy alongside his best friends Yabba and Apricot as they make their daily journey to school. Of course, getting there isn’t always as simple as it sounds.
Each morning quickly transforms into an imaginative adventure as the trio becomes distracted by fantastical scenarios and larger-than-life daydreams. Thankfully, the ever-patient Bitzer is never too far behind, doing everything he can to ensure the group arrives at school before the bell rings.
While the premise may sound straightforward, Let’s Go Timmy! represents something larger.
It is the latest chapter in one of Aardman’s most successful and enduring family franchises.
For years, audiences have followed the adventures of Shaun, Timmy and the residents of Mossy Bottom through television specials, feature films and preschool programming. Rather than rebooting the property entirely, Aardman is choosing to expand the universe organically, allowing familiar characters to grow alongside new viewers.
That approach has become increasingly important as many studios look to balance nostalgia with fresh storytelling opportunities.
The new series also introduces a creative visual twist by combining Aardman’s beloved stop-motion animation with energetic 2D sequences designed to bring the children’s imaginative worlds to life. The result appears to be a blend of classic craftsmanship and modern storytelling techniques.
At a time when many preschool brands come and go, Timmy’s continued presence speaks to the lasting appeal of strong characters and simple, heartfelt storytelling.
As Aardman celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, projects like Let’s Go Timmy! serve as a reminder of why the studio remains one of animation’s most respected names.
Because while generations may change, great characters always find a way to come back home.
And in 2027, Timmy will be ready for another adventure.
