Childhood staples are returning this summer in the form of Disney and Pixar’s classic and beloved animated franchise, Toy Story.
Having first arrived on screens over three decades ago, the series continues to resonate with fans of all ages, building excitement for the next installment in the story of everyone’s favorite toys.
In early trailers, it’s clear that much has changed for these fan-favorite characters as they face a very modern challenge—tablets. With the film slated for an early summer release, audiences won’t have to wait long to see how this new chapter unfolds on the big screen.
To build excitement and strengthen the film’s impact ahead of its release, Disney and Pixar have already begun rolling out new merchandise and collaborative efforts. While there are several exciting additions, one of the most notable—despite how simple it may seem—is a partnership with the popular breakfast staple, Kellogg’s.
While Kellogg’s offers an extensive range of breakfast options, the brand has long been associated with more than just cereal. For generations, it held a special place in households thanks to the toys once found inside its boxes—adding an extra layer of excitement to the morning routine for kids.
Although those toys have been absent for over a decade, that is now changing.
In honor and celebration of the upcoming Toy Story film, Kellogg’s is bringing them back in select, limited-edition cereal boxes. Beginning April 26, families can once again experience this nostalgic tradition, with collectible spoon figures featuring three core Toy Story characters—Woody, Buzz, and Jessie. Each specially designed box will include one character, offering fans a classic unboxing experience that blends surprise and storytelling.
This celebratory release does more than simply reintroduce a beloved marketing tradition. It creates an opportunity for longtime fans to reconnect with the franchise while allowing parents to share a formative childhood experience with a new generation.
At the same time, it subtly reinforces themes that appear central to the upcoming film—particularly the value of physical play in an increasingly screen-focused world. As suggested in early trailers, the toys are now competing with digital distractions, making this return to tangible, hands-on interaction feel especially timely.
Whether this marks a longer-term shift for the “breakfast of champions” brand remains to be seen. However, it undeniably adds another layer of excitement—not just for the return of a nostalgic tradition, but for Toy Story 5 itself, which arrives in theaters on June 19.
