Mattel Elevates Rob David to Senior Vice President of Animation for Mattel Studios

Mattel has announced that Rob David will now be the Senior Vice President, Animation of Mattel Studios as he will oversee development, creative, and production for Mattel Studios’ adult and kids animated television series as well as digital content. David will also have the same role over the company’s YouTube offerings and we are looking forward to seeing where he takes us. With all the wonderful brands that Mattel has we are always looking forward to more content and David is passionate about the Mattel IPs.

Mattel Elevates Rob David to Senior Vice President of Animation for Mattel Studios

• Mattel, Inc., a leading global play and family entertainment company and owner of one of the most iconic brand portfolios in the world, today announced the elevation of Rob David to Senior Vice President, Animation of Mattel Studios, effective immediately.

• In this role, he will oversee development, creative, and production for Mattel Studios’ adult and kids animated television series across broadcast and streaming platforms, as well as digital content including the company’s YouTube offerings.

• Most recently Vice President Content Creative, Television, David will continue to report to Robbie Brenner, President and Chief Content Officer of Mattel Studios. Under Brenner’s leadership, David joins Jennifer Breslow, Head of Television (Unscripted and Live-Action), and Senior Film Executives Darian Lanzetta and Tom McNulty, rounding out Brenner’s creative leadership team.

• Brenner said: “Rob is a creative force who has been instrumental in shaping the next chapter of our animation strategy at Mattel Studios. Having started his career as a writer in animation, he brings a deep understanding of character-driven storytelling, a strong command of our brands, and the ability to build compelling worlds for both kids and adult audiences. That creative foundation, paired with his leadership, makes him the ideal person to drive our expanding animation slate, as we continue delivering high-quality content that resonates with audiences around the world.”

• David added: “I first learned to tell stories by playing with Mattel toys, so it’s an incredible honor to step into this role at such a pivotal time for Mattel Studios. Mattel is a toy chest of storylines, and I’m passionate about expanding their reach through bold, innovative animated series and digital content. • A creative executive, showrunner, and executive producer specializing in IP-driven kids and family animation, David has led development and production for globally recognized brands including Hot Wheels, Masters of the Universe, Barbie, UNO, and Magic 8 Ball. His animated credits include the Emmy-nominated adult series Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the Emmy-nominated preschool hit Hot Wheels: Let’s Race, and an upcoming stop-motion 3D animated Pingu series, in development with multi-Academy Award®–winning studio Aardman. With experience spanning television, publishing, and gaming, he brings a franchise-focused approach to storytelling, building expansive worlds that resonate with audiences across platforms.
