There is quite a bit happening in the world of collectibles as we head into the final months of the year, with familiar franchises preparing for new theatrical adventures and toy companies finding different ways to bring some of our favorite characters into the hands of fans.
And whether you’re someone who enjoys collecting figures of your favorite characters, loves the surprise of opening a blind box or simply can’t resist adding another adorable plush to your collection, it looks like The Loyal Subjects has a little something for everyone.
The toy and collectibles company has officially revealed several new product lines, bringing together two familiar entertainment franchises, The Hunger Games and Angry Birds, alongside an entirely new original collectible property called Skittens.
And there is quite a bit to unpack with these new collections, especially with the different styles of figures and plush being introduced.
Starting with something completely new, Skittens is an original line of six-inch collectible plush characters that brings together fashion, sports, pop culture and streetwear in a rather unusual way. Each character comes packaged in a mystery blind box, with the first wave featuring collaborations with several recognizable fashion and lifestyle brands, including Champion, Reebok, Volcom, RVCA and Juicy Couture.
But the characters themselves aren’t the only surprises waiting inside.
The collection also features rare and ultra-rare chase characters, alongside additional accessories that collectors might discover, including miniature tote bags, keychains, enamel pins and sticker packs. It’s an interesting approach to the growing world of collectible plush, particularly with the emphasis on fashion and recognizable brands giving the characters their own distinct styles.
The Skittens collection is currently available at Walmart locations across the United States and is designed for ages eight and older.
Meanwhile, fans of The Hunger Games have a new assortment of collectibles arriving as the franchise prepares for its next theatrical installment, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
The Loyal Subjects has introduced a collection of 5.5-inch articulated fashion dolls featuring Katniss Everdeen and Effie Trinket, with each figure offering more than 20 points of articulation alongside accessories inspired by the individual characters.
And for collectors who prefer something a little smaller, there are also two different CheeBee collections joining the lineup.
The Hunger Games CheeBee Micro Surprise Blind Box assortment features 1.5-inch figures, with 20 characters to collect across common, rare, ultra-rare and limited-edition categories. The CheeBee Cuties collection, meanwhile, offers slightly larger 2.5-inch figures available individually and in three-packs.
With the different collectible formats, fans have several options when it comes to celebrating the franchise, whether they prefer more detailed articulated figures or smaller character collectibles that can be displayed together.
The new Hunger Games products are available through a variety of retailers, including Amazon, BigBadToyStore, Entertainment Earth, Walmart, Barnes & Noble and Toys R Us, with select items also available at Five Below.
But that’s not all The Loyal Subjects has planned, especially for fans of a certain group of rather temperamental birds.
With a new Angry Birds movie scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 23, the company is also introducing a collection of plush toys and figures inspired by the franchise, featuring familiar favorites Red, Bomb and Chuck alongside newcomers Olly and Fuzzy.
Among the highlights is an 11-inch plush version of Red that can transform between two different appearances. The plush can be rolled into a ball or extended to reveal his legs and wings, bringing a little of the franchise’s familiar gameplay-inspired fun into the design.
There is also a smaller assortment of plush characters measuring between six and eight inches, alongside a new CheeBee Cuties blind box collection featuring 2.5-inch figures. And for collectors hoping to discover something a little different, the assortment includes rare flocked and glow-in-the-dark variations.
The company has even introduced a special Halloween-themed CheeBee collection, giving some of the familiar characters a spooky makeover.
The limited-edition assortment includes Vampire Red, Franken Chuck and Mummy Bomb, along with rare and ultra-rare glow-in-the-dark variants, offering fans another way to celebrate the franchise through seasonal character designs.
The new Angry Birds merchandise is available through retailers including Amazon, Toys R Us, Macy’s, Target, Meijer, FYE, GameStop, BigBadToyStore and Five Below.
With three very different collections joining its growing lineup, The Loyal Subjects is continuing to explore the different ways fans connect with their favorite characters and collectibles. From the fashion-inspired mystery of Skittens to the recognizable faces of The Hunger Games and the colorful world of Angry Birds, there are plenty of new additions for collectors to discover.
And with the holiday shopping season approaching, it looks like fans will have quite a few new characters to consider adding to their collections!
