Meet Bumpy the Bear! Plim Plim Creators Introduce a New Preschool Friend at MIPCOM 2026

There’s something rather wonderful about the way young children discover the world around them.

From learning their first songs and making new friends to discovering how to navigate everyday experiences, childhood is filled with little moments that can turn into some rather big accomplishments.

And while those experiences might seem ordinary to adults, for preschoolers, they’re all part of an exciting adventure filled with new discoveries.

Especially when there’s a lovable animated friend helping them along the way.

Over the years, children’s entertainment has introduced audiences to countless memorable characters who have made learning a little more exciting through colorful stories, catchy music and imaginative adventures.

And now, another friendly face is preparing to join that growing collection of preschool favorites.

His name is Bumpy, and he’s a rather adorable little bear with plenty to learn!

Spiritum Entertainment, the Argentina-based production company behind the popular preschool property “Plim Plim,” is introducing its newest animated series, “Bumpy the Bear,” to international audiences and potential partners at MIPJunior and MIPCOM 2026.

And for a studio whose previous creation has become such a recognizable name in Latin American children’s entertainment, this marks an exciting new chapter.

Developed as Spiritum Entertainment’s first new intellectual property since “Plim Plim,” the upcoming preschool series follows Bumpy, a young bear whose everyday experiences become opportunities to discover something new.

Alongside his friends, Bumpy takes the lessons he learns from his teacher and puts them into practice through music, play and the little adventures that come with growing up.

It’s a concept built around something that has always been important in preschool entertainment.

Children don’t simply learn by being told how something works. They learn by exploring, experimenting and discovering how those lessons fit into their own experiences.

And sometimes, a catchy song and a little imagination can make those discoveries even more memorable.

That’s the approach behind “Bumpy the Bear,” which combines playful storytelling with music to encourage young audiences to learn alongside its characters.

The series consists of 52 animated shorts and 52 music videos, giving preschoolers opportunities to enjoy Bumpy’s adventures through both storytelling and musical experiences.

And with the production available in English, Spanish and Portuguese, the little bear is already preparing to connect with families across different languages and cultures.

Of course, Bumpy isn’t beginning his journey entirely on his own.

The series is a co-production between Spiritum Entertainment and Canary Islands-based distributor Krakatoa, with both companies working to introduce the property to international broadcasters, streaming platforms and licensing partners.

And while “Bumpy the Bear” is still beginning its international journey, the series has already achieved some important early milestones.

The show recently made its debut on YouTube, giving families an opportunity to begin discovering Bumpy and his friends.

Meanwhile, Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has acquired the series for its children’s channel Clan in Spain, as well as its international channels.

It’s a promising beginning for a new preschool property, particularly one entering a competitive entertainment landscape filled with established characters and familiar franchises.

But Spiritum Entertainment certainly understands what it takes to connect with younger audiences.

After all, the company is already responsible for “Plim Plim,” a preschool property that has developed an enormous following, particularly throughout Latin America.

According to Spiritum Entertainment, “Plim Plim” has accumulated 48.4 million subscribers across its YouTube channels, with more than 21.8 billion video views over the past 12 months.

Those are some rather impressive numbers for a children’s entertainment property.

And they highlight just how important digital platforms have become for introducing preschool characters to families around the world.

While traditional television continues to play an important role in children’s entertainment, platforms such as YouTube have also created opportunities for young audiences to discover stories, songs and characters whenever they’re ready for another adventure.

For preschool properties that incorporate music into their storytelling, that accessibility can be particularly meaningful.

After all, anyone who has spent time around young children knows that when they discover a song they love, there’s a very good chance they’ll want to hear it again.

And again.

And probably one more time after that.

But beyond the catchy melodies, there’s something valuable about the way musical repetition can help reinforce early childhood lessons.

By connecting familiar ideas with memorable songs and playful characters, educational entertainment can encourage children to revisit important concepts in ways that feel natural and enjoyable.

And that’s an approach Spiritum Entertainment hopes to continue exploring with Bumpy.

While the new series shares the company’s belief in entertainment that encourages learning and discovery, Spiritum president Guillermo “Tita” Pino has emphasized that “Bumpy the Bear” is intended to establish its own identity.

Rather than simply recreating the success of “Plim Plim,” the production introduces a new world, new characters and a different collection of experiences for young audiences to enjoy.

And that’s an important distinction.

Because while successful preschool properties often share similar educational foundations, it’s the individual personalities and storytelling approaches that help children develop lasting connections with their favorite characters.

For Bumpy, that connection begins with the familiar experiences of learning something new and discovering how to use that knowledge in everyday life.

Whether he’s spending time with his friends, participating in playful activities or putting one of his teacher’s lessons into practice, his adventures are designed around situations that young children can recognize.

And by exploring those experiences through music and play, the series hopes to make learning feel like an adventure rather than a task.

With its initial YouTube launch and RTVE acquisition already secured, the next step is introducing Bumpy to a wider international audience.

That’s where MIPJunior and MIPCOM come into the picture.

The entertainment markets provide opportunities for production companies, broadcasters, distributors and licensing partners to discover new projects and explore potential collaborations.

For Spiritum Entertainment and Krakatoa, the events represent an opportunity to showcase Bumpy’s world and establish relationships that could help bring the series to additional territories and platforms.

Krakatoa co-founder Víctor M. López has described the property as one developed with international growth in mind, including opportunities across broadcasting, digital platforms and consumer products.

And with the series already produced in three languages, there’s certainly a foundation for expanding its reach.

Of course, introducing a new preschool character is about more than simply finding places for a series to air.

It’s about giving children an opportunity to discover a new friend, connect with their adventures and perhaps learn something along the way.

And for Bumpy, that journey is only just beginning.

“Bumpy the Bear” is currently available on YouTube and has been acquired by RTVE for Clan in Spain and its international channels. Spiritum Entertainment and Krakatoa are presenting the property at MIPJunior and MIPCOM 2026 as they seek additional international partners.

With 52 animated shorts, 52 music videos and a world built around friendship, music and everyday discoveries, there’s plenty of room for this little bear to grow.

And while it’s still too early to know where Bumpy’s adventures might take him next, there’s something rather charming about the idea of another preschool character helping young audiences discover just how exciting learning can be.

Because sometimes, the biggest adventures begin with the smallest lessons.

And with a little music, a few good friends and plenty of curiosity, Bumpy the Bear is ready to discover them all!
