Marvel Meets Star Wars! LEGO Invites Fans to Create the Ultimate Crossover Set

There are some fictional universes that have become so iconic, so beloved and so deeply embedded in popular culture that it’s almost impossible to imagine entertainment without them.

Universes filled with extraordinary heroes, legendary villains, unforgettable battles and stories that have inspired generations of fans to dream a little bigger.

And while these worlds have each given us countless adventures over the years, there’s always been one rather interesting question lingering in the minds of fans.

What would happen if they ever crossed paths?

Imagine Iron Man coming face-to-face with Darth Vader. Or Spider-Man finding himself swinging through the corridors of the Death Star. Perhaps the Avengers could use a little assistance from the Jedi, or maybe Tony Stark might have a few interesting ideas for upgrading the Millennium Falcon.

The possibilities are practically endless.

And now, LEGO is giving fans an opportunity to turn some of those imaginative ideas into something they can actually build.

The LEGO Group has officially announced a first-of-its-kind LEGO Ideas challenge bringing together the worlds of Marvel and Star Wars, inviting fans to design original crossover creations for a chance to see their work become an official LEGO set.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Marvel. Star Wars. LEGO.

All together in one rather extraordinary creative opportunity.

The announcement was made during New York Comic Con by filmmaker, actor and Marvel Comics writer Kevin Smith, who is also working on the upcoming comic book crossover “Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles.”

And considering just how much history these two franchises have, this is quite the exciting development.

While both Marvel and Star Wars have been important parts of LEGO’s product lineup for decades, this marks the first time the two Disney-owned properties have officially come together for a LEGO Ideas challenge.

And rather than simply presenting fans with a predetermined crossover design, LEGO is putting the creative possibilities directly into the hands of its building community.

Because if there’s one thing LEGO fans have demonstrated over the years, it’s that a little imagination and a collection of colorful bricks can lead to some truly remarkable creations.

For this challenge, builders are being invited to submit original designs across three categories: vehicles, characters and scenes.

And each category opens the door to some rather interesting possibilities.

Perhaps you’ve always wondered what a Star Wars spacecraft might look like if it were designed using Stark technology. Or maybe you’ve imagined your favorite Marvel superheroes standing alongside some of the galaxy’s most recognizable characters.

There are countless opportunities to combine the distinctive designs, personalities and storytelling elements of both franchises into something entirely new.

And that’s part of what makes this challenge so exciting.

Rather than asking fans to recreate an existing scene, the competition encourages them to imagine something that hasn’t necessarily happened before.

A meeting between two worlds that have inspired generations of storytelling, brought to life one brick at a time.

Of course, the timing of this announcement is particularly interesting.

The LEGO Ideas challenge arrives alongside preparations for “Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles,” an upcoming comic book project set to launch in January 2027.

The series will mark the first official crossover between the two comic book universes, bringing together characters and storytelling traditions that have spent decades developing their own distinctive identities.

And with Star Wars preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2027, there’s certainly no shortage of reasons for fans to be excited about what the coming year might bring.

Kevin Smith, who is involved with the comic book project, expressed his enthusiasm for the creative possibilities of the LEGO challenge, highlighting the opportunity for fans to contribute their own imaginative interpretations of the two franchises.

And there’s something rather fitting about inviting LEGO builders to participate in a crossover of this scale.

After all, LEGO has long encouraged fans to explore the possibilities of bringing their favorite fictional worlds together through imaginative play.

Whether it’s recreating memorable scenes from a movie or inventing an entirely new adventure featuring characters from different franchises, the freedom to experiment has always been one of the most appealing parts of building with LEGO.

And for fans of Marvel and Star Wars, that freedom is about to become even more exciting.

Both franchises already have extensive histories with the LEGO Group.

The company’s partnership with Star Wars dates back to 1999, introducing generations of builders to brick-built versions of familiar starships, characters and locations from a galaxy far, far away.

Over the years, those sets have become some of LEGO’s most recognizable releases, ranging from smaller builds designed for imaginative play to enormous collector-focused models that celebrate the franchise’s most iconic vehicles and settings.

Meanwhile, Marvel has developed its own extensive LEGO presence, bringing superheroes such as Spider-Man, Iron Man and the Avengers into countless building adventures.

From action-packed playsets to elaborate display models, both properties have given fans plenty of opportunities to recreate their favorite moments.

But until now, those two LEGO worlds have largely remained separate in their official releases.

And that’s precisely what makes this new LEGO Ideas challenge such an interesting milestone.

For the first time, fans have an official opportunity to design creations that combine elements from both universes, with the possibility of those designs eventually becoming products that other builders can enjoy.

It’s a rather wonderful example of how fan creativity can become part of the larger entertainment experience.

Because while LEGO sets often allow audiences to recreate the adventures they’ve watched on screen, LEGO Ideas offers something a little different.

It gives builders the opportunity to become creators themselves.

Instead of simply following instructions to assemble an existing design, participants can develop their own concepts, experiment with different building techniques and imagine how two familiar fictional worlds might work together.

And in a crossover involving Marvel and Star Wars, there are certainly plenty of directions that creativity could take.

Perhaps the most exciting part is that there’s no single obvious answer to what a Marvel and Star Wars crossover should look like.

Different fans will undoubtedly have very different ideas about which characters should meet, which vehicles should be combined and what kinds of adventures could unfold.

And that’s exactly the sort of imagination LEGO is hoping to encourage.

Submissions for the LEGO Ideas Marvel and Star Wars crossover challenge are now open, with builders able to enter their creations through the official LEGO Ideas platform.

Fan voting is scheduled to begin on December 8, 2026, giving the community an opportunity to support their favorite designs.

Grand prize selections will then be announced in 2027, with winning creations eligible to be developed into official LEGO products.

While that doesn’t mean every winning submission is guaranteed to become a retail set, the possibility of seeing a fan-created crossover design make its way into the official LEGO lineup is certainly an exciting prospect.

And with two of entertainment’s biggest franchises involved, we can only imagine the kinds of imaginative builds fans will submit.

After all, there’s something particularly special about seeing the creativity of a fan community celebrated on such a large scale.

For generations, Marvel and Star Wars have encouraged audiences to imagine extraordinary possibilities, from superheroes protecting the world to Jedi exploring the mysteries of the Force.

And LEGO has given those same audiences the tools to bring their own ideas to life.

Now, those three creative worlds are coming together in a way that could lead to some truly unexpected results.

Fans interested in participating can submit their designs and review the official competition guidelines through the

LEGO Ideas “Hope Assembles” challenge.

With submissions already underway, fan voting beginning in December and winning designs set to be announced in 2027, there’s plenty of time for builders to put their imaginations to work.

And whether your dream crossover involves the Avengers exploring a distant galaxy, a familiar Star Wars villain encountering Earth’s mightiest heroes or something completely unexpected, this is an opportunity to bring those ideas one step closer to reality.

Because when you combine the storytelling possibilities of Marvel and Star Wars with the creativity of LEGO, there’s really no telling what fans might come up with.

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have a rather important question to consider.

Would a lightsaber be able to cut through Captain America’s shield?

Perhaps that’s a debate best left to the LEGO builders!
