The Fixies have taught us plenty about what is hiding inside our everyday technology over the years.
Apparently, there was also room in there for a pretty good playlist.
Animotion Media Group has released “Fixie Ditties,” a new English-language studio album inspired by the popular children’s franchise “The Fixies.” Featuring 11 original tracks, the album is available worldwide across Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and other major streaming platforms.
And these tiny engineers certainly aren’t sticking to the basics this time around.
While “The Fixies” has spent the past 15 years exploring how technology, machines and everyday devices work, “Fixie Ditties” takes some of that curiosity considerably further into the world of science fiction. Songs including “Time Machine,” “Teleporter” and the wonderfully appropriate “Chatbot” bring everything from time travel to modern technology into the musical side of the franchise.
Maybe don’t leave the Fixies alone with the time machine, though. We have questions.
The new album also hasn’t forgotten where the franchise’s musical history began. “Fixie Ditties” includes an updated version of the classic “Ticky Tock,” giving longtime fans a new take on one of the property’s familiar songs while introducing it to younger listeners discovering the Fixies today.
Music has become a growing part of the wider “Fixies” world through previous releases including “Sing with the Fixies” and “Fixie Beats,” making the new album another extension of a franchise that has always found ways to mix entertainment with learning.
That combination has certainly found an audience. Over the past 15 years, “The Fixies” has grown to more than 22 million subscribers across social media and YouTube, while its videos have generated 16 billion views on YouTube. At the center of it all remains a wonderfully simple concept: tiny creatures secretly living inside our machines, fixing what breaks and helping kids understand a little more about how the technology surrounding them actually works.
Songs offer another way to carry that curiosity beyond an episode. A time machine or teleporter may take things considerably further than explaining the inner workings of an appliance, but science fiction has always been rather good at getting kids to start asking questions about science fact.
And “Chatbot”? Well, considering how much technology has changed since “The Fixies” first arrived 15 years ago, we suppose even tiny repair experts have to keep up with the times.
Animotion Media Group says “Fixie Ditties” is part of the franchise’s continuing expansion, with more global initiatives, interactive content and cross-platform music releases planned as “The Fixies” enters its next chapter.
For now, though, there are 11 new songs waiting.
