Some collaborations feel surprising.
Others feel like they should have happened already.
That is exactly the case with Kuromi and KATSEYE, two cultural powerhouses that have built passionate followings around fashion, personality, confidence and unapologetic self-expression.
Now, Sanrio and the global pop group are officially coming together for a new multi-category capsule collection launching exclusively at Target on Aug. 14.
The collaboration brings Kuromi’s mischievous edge together with KATSEYE’s bold pop identity across fashion, collectibles, drinkware and snacks, creating a lineup that feels perfectly tuned to the audience already embracing both brands.
And the timing could not be better.
The collection arrives alongside the release of KATSEYE’s new EP, WILD, giving fans another way to celebrate the group’s latest era while bringing Kuromi directly into that moment.
On the fashion side, fans can expect graphic tees featuring Kuromi alongside KATSEYE members, a grey crewneck sweatsuit, a Kuromi ears beanie and a purple clear bag designed for concerts and stadium events.
The collectible lineup expands the collaboration even further with a Kuromi plush charm, keychains, collectible figurines and KATSEYE trading cards, giving fans plenty of smaller pieces to collect, display and carry with them.
Even everyday essentials are getting the crossover treatment.
The collection includes insulated stainless steel tumblers in Kuromi purple featuring member photography and character artwork, along with black tumbler designs pairing Kuromi with illustrated versions of KATSEYE.
And naturally, the collaboration stretches into snacks.
Fans can pick up crispy cookie rolls, mochi bites, freeze-dried candy and popping candy in collectible Kuromi x KATSEYE packaging, alongside A-SHA instant ramen and boba beverages featuring exclusive designs inspired by the partnership.
It is a crossover that feels especially natural in today’s entertainment landscape.
Kuromi has evolved far beyond being simply a Sanrio character. She has become a fashion and lifestyle icon in her own right, embraced across apparel, beauty, accessories and collectible culture.
KATSEYE has similarly grown into more than just a music act. With a global fanbase, major social media momentum and a style-forward identity, the group is already becoming part of the broader culture surrounding fashion, fandom and youth lifestyle.
Together, the two brands meet in the exact same space.
That makes this collaboration feel less like an unexpected experiment and more like two worlds finally recognizing how naturally they fit together.
Fans attending KCON LA from Aug. 14-16 will also get an early look at select pieces through Sanrio’s Kuromi’s Mischief Mansion activation before the collection continues rolling out through Target stores nationwide.
As entertainment, music, fashion and character brands continue overlapping more than ever, Kuromi x KATSEYE feels like the kind of collaboration that defines where pop culture is heading next.
Two major fandoms. One shared attitude.
And somehow, it already feels overdue.
