“Totally Spies” Goes From Undercover To Center Stage In New Single Release

Head to class, go after-school shopping, and save the world?

That’s just another day in the lives of WOOHP operatives Clover, Alex, and Sam from the beloved animated series, “Totally Spies!”

The slice-of-life-meets-spy adventure became a staple of early 2000s girl-focused animation. Debuting in the spring of 2002, the series followed the trio of best friends as they navigated everyday life in Beverly Hills. School bullies, crushes, homework, and naturally, the never-ending search for the perfect outfit for every occasion.

Normal enough…

Until they’re suddenly whisked away to the headquarters of WOOHP (World Organization of Human Protection), where their double lives begin as teenage spies tasked with saving the world from a colorful collection of villains.

While action-packed spy adventures were hardly uncommon during the early 2000s, what made “Totally Spies!” stand out was just how unapologetically itself the series remained. Viewers watched the girls grow from high school into college while still experiencing relatable milestones along the way. Clover continued embracing her passion for fashion, Alex remained the heart of the group with her athleticism and empathy, and Sam’s intelligence only continued to grow without ever defining her entire personality.

That, combined with the series’ signature humor, heart, and unmistakable love of fashion—making it one of the few animated series of its era to regularly showcase changing wardrobes—helped “Totally Spies!” leave a lasting impression on audiences. The result was a feature film, seven seasons, and an impressive 182 episodes.

Perhaps even more remarkable is the franchise’s longevity. After the series concluded in 2010, fan demand proved strong enough to bring it back for another season in 2013. More than a decade later, that enthusiasm remained, ultimately leading to the recently completed seventh season in 2024.

That’s no small accomplishment.

It also speaks to just how enduring the series has become. And with even more “Totally Spies!” already on the horizon, fans clearly aren’t ready to say goodbye to Clover, Alex, and Sam just yet.

That continued momentum has now led the franchise somewhere entirely new.

Unlike many girl-focused animated series, music has always played a supporting role in “Totally Spies!”, typically serving only as part of the opening and ending themes or when required by the story itself.

Until now.

The franchise’s first-ever original song outside of its theme music, “Run This Town,” has officially arrived on global streaming platforms.

The upbeat pop anthem is instantly catchy while perfectly capturing the confidence, teamwork, and energy that define the trio whenever they’re out on a mission. It’s also the kind of motivational track that can easily find a place on anyone’s feel-good playlist.

While unexpected, the song also opens the door for even more original music as the franchise continues to grow.

If “Totally Spies!” is preparing for even more adventures, perhaps this is only the beginning of a whole new way for fans to experience one of animation’s most iconic spy teams.
