“Kpop Demon Hunters” To Be Released on Blu-Ray

A year ago, the once under-the-radar collaboration between Netflix and Sony Animation was only beginning to make waves ahead of its June debut on the global streaming platform.

Now, nearly a year later, the story of Rumi, Mira and Zoey has evolved into one of the largest organically driven global cultural movements in modern pop culture. Something to study, admire, respect and remain fully in awe of.

Breaking records across Netflix, dominating streaming charts, sweeping through award season and accomplishing the very thing the members of HUNTR/X strive for within the narrative itself — deeply connecting people through music.

Because of this success, the dynamics surrounding modern pop culture and streaming releases have shifted alongside it. Netflix has opened the door for theatrical screenings of its content, announced plans for a live stage production and continues expanding the world of Kpop Demon Hunters in ways both already revealed and still waiting to come to light.

Kpop Demon Hunters has broken the model established by many of its predecessors, creating something that feels far larger than a traditional animated release. As the cultural impact of the film continues to grow, HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys are no longer viewed simply as fictional groups, but with the same emotional weight and presence as many real-world artists audiences listen to every day.

In another once-unprecedented move, it has now been confirmed that Kpop Demon Hunters will receive a physical home media release through Criterion.

With a scheduled release date of December 31, 2026, fans can now preorder the film through Amazon in DVD, Blu-ray and 4K formats. The unexpected physical release will allow audiences to permanently bring home the battle for the hearts and minds of fans around the globe.

At the time of writing, no finalized cover art or special feature details have been revealed. However, fans remain hopeful for deleted scenes, unreleased songs and behind-the-scenes documentaries exploring the creation of the film.

With its release arriving at the close of the holiday season, Kpop Demon Hunters is almost certain to find its way onto countless wish lists. The timing also feels fitting, allowing fans to once again experience the film as one year ends and another begins.
