For many, a trip to the local Disney Store was an everyday slice of magic tucked inside suburban malls. A place where fans could not only shop for merchandise featuring their favorite characters, but also feel like they had stepped into a Disney Park.
That experience is now returning—at least for a limited time—with a new retail concept designed to immerse fans once again in the magic and wonder of Disney.
Beginning this May, in partnership with Go! Retail Group, Disney will launch Disney Store Limited Time, a new in-person retail destination that brings the storytelling and charm of the brand back into physical spaces.
With a first opening set for May and plans for select locations to remain open through the 2026 holiday season, fans will be able to step inside and experience Disney across multiple seasons.
Each location will offer a range of authentic merchandise currently available through the Disney Store online, while also bringing back beloved in-store experiences longtime fans will remember—most notably the brand’s signature opening ceremonies.
While this appears to be a pilot program for the long-rumored return of the Disney Store, it also reflects a broader shift as consumers continue moving back toward in-person retail and experiential shopping.
The Disney Store Limited Time will debut in two East Coast locations. The first opens May 23 at Ross Park Mall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, followed by a second location later this fall at Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey.
With nearly all previous Disney Store locations having closed over the past decade—and the only remaining in-person retail presence existing within select Target stores—this limited-time concept taps directly into nostalgia. At the same time, it offers a new generation of fans the chance to experience a small piece of Disney magic in their everyday lives.
