HBO Max Releases First Trailer for Anticipated “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”

The world-renowned fantasy series is returning with an all-new adaptation this Christmas.

Fans of the beloved ’90s book series Harry Potter have, at long last, received their first look at the brand-new streaming adaptation of the story that has enchanted audiences for decades.

While the books have become a childhood staple carried into adulthood—and reread time and time again—the source material has already inspired an equally expansive film franchise. Now, this new HBO Max series is set to retell the iconic story of the boy who lived, this time with the benefit of extended runtime to explore the world and its characters in greater depth than ever before.

The series has been in development since early in the decade, and after years of work from cast and crew—alongside mounting anticipation from fans—the first trailer for its debut season has finally arrived.

Clocking in at eight episodes, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will revisit the very beginning of Harry’s journey, reintroducing audiences to the wizarding world while laying the foundation for what’s to come. It offers both new viewers and longtime fans a chance to reconnect with the magic—and perhaps relive the childhood dream of receiving their own Hogwarts acceptance letter.

Even at a glance, the trailer showcases the care and scale of the production, making the emotional response from fans across social media unsurprising. Its Christmas release feels especially fitting—like a gift from another time, rediscovered under the glow of twinkling lights.

Though spring has only just begun, excitement for the return of the boy who lived is already building—and it’s only set to grow in the months ahead.
