For over three decades, fans of the classic and beloved Magic Tree House series have enjoyed the fantastical adventures of siblings Jack and Annie Smith. With their, as you can guess, magic tree house and its treasure trove of books, Jack and Annie travel across space and time to discover the world beyond their Pennsylvania home. From visiting the past to exploring faraway countries, the Smith siblings—and readers—continue to expand their imaginations with stories of what was and what could be.
Over the years, there has been a great deal of additional development for this popular series since its first publication, including various theater performances. However, the tales of Jack and Annie have never before been brought to the screen.
Now, for the first time, fans will be able to see these adventures come to life with a new animated series currently in development with Spuree.
As this is a new announcement, not many details have been released regarding specifics. Yet one of the most notable updates is that series author Mary Pope Osborne is serving as a full creative partner on the production—an opportunity not commonly afforded to authors whose works are adapted. Given Osborne’s love for her characters and the series, fans are sure to be in for a fantastic treat.
When the animated series launches, it will receive a full release on digital and streaming platforms. And in true Magic Tree House fashion, educational outreach efforts will accompany the debut, allowing parents, teachers, and even library networks to bring the stories and lessons of the series full circle for a new generation discovering Magic Tree House.
And that is the most exciting part of all.
As long-time fans of Magic Tree House, we are excited to see this story finally start the production of creating a adaption for our screens. Be sure to stay with us as this develops.
