DuckTales – A Between Season Discussion part 2 is below and we get to talk a lot about how the past season ended and what characters we would like to see in the future. As always, make sure you are caught up on DuckTales before reading our discussion, and with more info about the season being released at D23, we look forward to Tuesday, September 3rd when we DuckTales “What Ever Happened to Donald Duck?!“ on the Disney Channel.
Ella: How about we talk about the “boom” style release. I know Disney has started doing this. What do you think about it? Does it help or hurt a series.
Damon: Ok, so the split release of episodes feels like a pretty normal thing in television these days. Doesn’t stand out to me in any way with this show.
Based on name alone which episodes are you are looking forward to in the second half of season two and one you are not looking forward to.
For me looking forward to “Timephoon” as I’m hoping it deals with time travel but argh if we have to see Bubba because he was one of my least favorite characters. Least looking forward to “Moonvasion” though as I’m not into the moon people so much
Ella: I suppose I am so accustomed to how anime series release episodes that it feels…off.
Ahhhh…these questions are the hardest. Titles can be such a pain. I love the series and do not really want to discredit an episode prematurely.
Yet the thought of Bubba Duck leaves me kind of “meh, are we done yet?” Love how we are playing with time travel, but “Timephoon”.
But I am hyped for “Moonvasion” – wow, we are going at opposite directions. The first season had a really good final, and in a way the stakes are higher now. So everyone is going to have to give it their all. Plus we might get more Darkwing…just saying.
Damon: Hmm, yeah the whole Moon thing seems like it should be over. It does not have the allure of Magica. Based on the new information we know we are going to see her again which is exciting. We do know we are getting Bubba as well, I just hope he stays a very in the background character. I feel like his introduction was the start of the downfall of the original series. I mean do you like the whole moon story or do you like the characters?
Ella: The story arc. We have seen more slice of life style episodes so going to a new distant location is thrilling.
Damon: Ok, if you could remove one character from the reboot of DuckTales that we have already seen who would it be and why? If you could add a character from the original series or any Disney Afternoon series to the show who would it be and why?
I think I am going to go with the unconventional call of Della being my least favorite, I just don’t love the story or how she takes away from other characters. Benzino Gassolini is one of my favorite characters from the original who I would love to see in the new series…
Ella: Ahhhahh Duckworth. Yes he is part of the original. But out of all the characters he has done the least and has the most limitations. I think it’s like how Dafne (Winx Club) was, confined to a specific location. So unless things happen at the manor he cannot be part of the plot.
I feel like most everyone I want is already coming. Unsurprisingly going with Morgana. I feel like having a bond made with Lena would come about and really help bond the unconventional family aspect. It would take time to get there.
