Ben Schwartz Will Be the Voice of Sonic the Hedgehog

Ben Schwartz, most known for his roles on “Parks and Recreation” and “Duck Tales,” has officially joined the cast of the upcoming Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Schwartz will voice the fast moving titular character in the live-action animated hybrid adaptation.

The Sonic movie is expected to be a mixture of live-action elements and CGI. According to reports, Paramount is planning to release the movie during the holiday season of 2019 with an anticipated release date of November 15, 2019. Sonic the Hedgehog is based on the Sega video game franchise which released it’s first game in 1991.

Schwartz is currently voicing Dewey Duck on Disney Channel’s reboot of “Duck Tales” and will voice Leonardo in Nickelodeon’s “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Jim Carrey will also star in the upcoming movie.

Jeff Fowler, who received an Oscar nomination for his 2005 animated short “Gopher Broke,” is directing.
