FENTON, M’MA
M’Ma Crackshell will be making her debut in DUCKTALES – ‘Who is Gizmoduck?!’ this Saturday and we are in for a totally different character than we remember from the original series. Gone are the hair curlers and excessive television watching. The interesting nugget is that Fenton’s hyphenated name will apply more to his mother, but hopefully more on that during the episode. This iteration of Mrs. Crackshell is tough police officer who also has Latin American roots, like Fenton. This is going to make for some interesting interactions between mother and son, and should keep Gizmoduck on his wheels (toes) as he looks to save the world.
Take a look at the video below:
Selenis Leyva tells us how she loves playing off of Fenton’s character, voiced by Lin-Manuel Miranda. She also goes on to talk a lot about her Latin heritage and how great it is to see characters that have the same heritage show up on-screen. She also tells us how proud she is of this project and how cool she appears to the younger generation of children in her family. They really chose a great voice actor for the role of M’Ma Crackshell with Selenis Leyva and we look forward to watching it all play out. Will you miss the old version of Mrs. Crackshell who was voiced by Kathleen Freeman from the original series? There sure was something fun about watching and listening to her in the original episode ‘My Mother the Psychic’ from DuckTales. And does anyone remember the time we actually saw her without her curlers?
With this new character it will be interesting to how a police officer will act to the vigilante hero sort that Fenton plays. We wonder if his mother will find out about being Gizmoduck or if it will stay a secret.
