The original Bug Juice premiered in 1998, with the last episodes of Season 3 ending in the year 2001. It has not be re run all that often even though we all enjoyed watching the show.
Starting tonight we will finally be getting back to camp Waziyatah as we meet all the new campers of the show.
It’s arrival day at camp Waziyatah, and the place is buzzing with new and returning campers. Veteran campers like Rafa and Izzy find a smooth transition into camp, while newcomers Leiha and Darryl have a harder time adjusting to life away from their families. Campers waste no time getting on their feet to experience the adventures and traditions of Wazi, including a magical campfire that keeps the sound of Camp Waziyatah ringing through the trees.
The video below gives us the opening theme song from Bug Juice: My Adventures at Camp and a glance at some of the campers from this reboot of the show. This was also a great show as it introduces kids to the concept of camp and also let the kids have a taste of camp if they could not go.
The concept of the show, was a reality show but with something of a free feel about it based on the original series. You didn’t feel like there was a script or a goal to this show, it was more of a journey about camp, friendship, trying new things, resolving conflict while at camp, which are all great lessons to learn. Bug Juice: My Adventures at Camp should provide all of the same things.
We are looking forward to tonight, where we can jump back in to a show that felt “real” with some great traditions of the Waziyatah camp. In the original series we got to see different camps each season, with different sessions of the same camp showing in each of the seasons. If Bug Juice: My Adventures at Camp does well, we might be able to see the same thing happen. Great that they brought it back to the original camp where it all got started, camp, Waziyatah.
