The Wayne is coming to Nickelodeon and we are still at odds on if it is going to be a hit or a miss. We have been burned recently, I really thought that we would enjoy Billy Dilley’s Super-Duper Subterranean Summer and that just didn’t pan out for us, so we are still chasing the dream of finding a show that will replace that feeling we got from Gravity Falls. With Welcome To The Wayne we have our next contender and we are a bit excited after seeing the trailer. Watch the trailer below and let’s chat.
A New York City apartment building holds mysteries and adventures behind every door in Nickelodeon’s newest animated series, Welcome to the Wayne, premiering Monday, July 24, at 5:30p.m. (ET/PT). Created and written by Emmy® Award-winning writer and composer Billy Lopez (The Wonder Pets) and executive produced by Emmy Award-winning creative executive Michael Pecoriello (Yu-Gi-Oh!), the 20-episode series follows three kids as they explore their strange and fantastical apartment building, the Wayne, where nothing is what it seems. The series will air at 5:30 p.m. (ET/PT) through Friday, July 28, and fans can catch encore episodes on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. Welcome to the Wayne follows the comedic adventures of three friends, Ansi Molina, Olly Timbers, and Saraline Timbers, as they aim to unlock the secrets of the Wayne. Each new investigation brings them face-to-face with new characters, creatures, and oddities, known as “Wayne Phenomena,” leading them closer to uncovering the truth about the weird things happening in their building.
We have a great concept here, feels a little Ghostbusters or the Librarians, which is a great thing. There is an overarching mystery to be solved and it is going to be a 20 episode series, so we know they already have the end in sight. There are going to be people on their side, people not on their side and each episode will bring us closer to solving the mystery and while I don’t like their animated noses, I really don’t have much else bad to say. Even though I have been burned before, I am going out on a limb again and saying this will be a fun show to watch and I am looking forward to it.
You can check out the digital short-form series which started in 2014 on the Nick App and Nick.com to get you ready for the new show. The Wayne premieres on Monday July the 24th after a new episode of The Loud House on Nickelodeon. We are super excited to see if this show lives up to the hype and becomes a new favorite for us.
