Sprout has a lot of new shows that are coming, but the one in development that makes me the most excited is a comedy called Little Shaq that will be inspired by Shquille O’Neal’s childhood. The former NBA Hall-of-Famer is executive producing this comedy and we are looking forward to seeing some video of what to expect. O’Neal has been involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America as an ambassador and he has had a relationship with the club since he was young. Shaq is all about education so this is a great move for him to help out todays youth with a new television show.
Bloomsbury already has a bunch of Little Shaq books on the market: Little Shaq, Little Shaq: Star of the Week, and Little Shaq Takes a Chance by Shaquille O’Neal and illustrated by Theodore Taylor III. They are great books and we can only hope that the show is up the same standard. Theodore Taylor III does an outstanding job with the illustration on these books.
If you have ever watched Shaq as an analyst on the Emmy award-winning show Inside the NBA on TNT you know he is really a funny guy and gets along with almost everyone. The banter that he has with his hosts including Charles Barkley is something people specifically tune in to see. If he can keep that same goofy fun in this show it is sure to be a huge hit. My wish, that Little Shaq can get a little Charles Barkley to guest star on the show, that would be one of the best things to happen to children’s television. Hopefully this show gets out of the development cycle quickly and on to television in a short amount of time as we are all looking forward to seeing what Little Shaq has to offer.
