As you know, we here at BSCKids love “My Little Pony.” From “Friendship is Magic” and the running film series “Equestria Girls.” The world of ponies have only seemed to grow and expand over the years. Looking back on how this current incarnation of ponies began years ago. It is nothing short of mind-blowing how far things have come.
Every year things do seem to keep getting better and better. For the series and our beloved characters take on new and thrilling adventures. But everything they have done so far might be nothing in comparison to what comes next.
With their first and extremely hyped feature film hitting theatres next October. You might think just how can things get bigger for the Mane 6? Well we just got conformation of not only an upcoming seventh season to “Friendship is Magic.” But new “Equestria Girls” specials.
According to a press release from Hasbro, “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic”Season 7 and New My Little Pony: Equestria Girls Specials are set for 2017. “Friendship is Magic” will return to Discovery Family Channel in the Spring while the spirited teens of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls will also return with three brand new TV specials.
The film features the voices of some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including nominated actress Uzo Aduba, winning actress Emily Blunt, winning actress Kristen Chenoweth, Taye Diggs, Michael Pena, nominated actor Live Schrieber, and pop super star Sia.
“2017 will be the biggest year in the history of the My Little Pony franchise, including new and exciting stories that will air across television, various digital platforms and movie screens,” said Stephen Davis, EVP and Chief Content Officer of Hasbro. “The characters and humor of the My Little Pony brand appeals to audiences of all ages and demographics, and we think Pony fans are going love what’s in store in the coming year.”
2017 is hands down- er, hooves down, I should say. Truly the biggest year for “My Little Pony”. But not only is that, 2017 already shaping up to be a strong year for animation point blank. With so many reboot titles arriving, new series and new seasons of fan favourites. Animation is going to be massive.
But, oh. The ponies. Though it is far from shocking that we are getting a seventh season, it is great news. Because we have seen so much happen this far in the show it will be interesting to see where the story progress next. I almost wonder if the season is setting the stage for the events of the film…hmm.
The “Equestria Girls” specials; yes, just yes. With the film coming out I had been half-wondering if we would actually get to see any more of the humane six or not. “Legends of Everfree” did leave us with an interesting ending. So I am glad that the specials will follow that chronically.
We might be a few months away, but 2017 is shaping to be a great year. Filled with lots of reviews at that!
