Nick Acquires “Becca’s Bunch” for 2017

2015 was the big year for reboots and returns for many networks but it seems 2016, on the other hand, has been a long-running chain of acquisitions. Both Nick and Disney have found themselves constantly acquiring new content from around the globe and the newest acquisition is a series titled “Becca’s Bunch.”

New acquisitions are by no means a bad thing. As I have said before, sometimes having something new and different is one of the best things. Every country has their own clear and distant culture. That is reflected back both in terms of characters, setting and overall narrative. Even though some things may be as universal as they come. The take on them might differ from writer to writer based on their life.

Admittedly, “Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir” from ZAG and “Regal Academy” from Rainbow S.r.l. We have not seen a great deal of new series being licensed by Nick as of late. At least in comparison to Disney.

But it looks like that streak is about to be broken by a new series headed to Nick next year. Get ready for “Becca’s Bunch.”

According to the press release, Nickelodeon acquired the rights for the forthcoming animated preschool series from Ireland’s Jam Media. The series will debut on Nickelodeon in the United States sometime in 2017 but it will eventually release internationally.

“Becca’s Bunch” follows a bird with a can-do attitude who allows her big ideas to take flight on fantastical adventures, is currently in production. It mixes live-action, puppetry, 2D animation and CGI.

Before coming across this news I must admit that I had never heard of Jam Media. But upon finding their web-site I was more than pleasantly surprised. They have quite a few shows in various stages. Each one different from the other both in terms of art-style and story.

But the true gem was hidden on the page for “Becca’s Bunch.” A short under two minute long video showing off the series.
