A Fruit Ninja Movie Heading Your Way

Yet another iOS game is heading to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the extremely popular mobile game, “Fruit Ninja” is set to become a live action family comedy. All I have to say is, HOW?!? Regardless, Australia’s Halfbrick Studios is looking to adapt the game nonetheless.

Tripp Vinson, known for work on San Andreas and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, is set to produce though his Vinson Films production banner. The film has tapped screenwriters JP Lavin and Chad Damiani. They will have the task of turning the slicing fruit and not slicing bombs game into at least 90 minutes. Sam White and Tara Farney will executive produce.

There is no word on how they plan on adapting the game, when it will begin production or an anticipated release date at the moment. More details are expected to release over the next few months. However, with the recent popularity of movie adaptations like The Angry Birds Movie it is not surprising that studios are looking to adapt mobile game of which they can get their hands.

Currently, Fruit Ninja remains as one of the highest downloaded games with over 1 billion downloads and counting, It is the second top-selling iOS game of all time.
